Have a friend coming over for dinner and am a bit bored with wine. Don't like cider, beer (except blonde beer) and can't drink spirits too much without being a moron.
What can I get in Tesco that's good? And a description if you can.
Thanks.

add water and it turns milky!
majik!!
tastes just like anniseed balls.
(i dont know if tesco seels it though)
oh wait
its a really strong spirit
lol!
EPIC FAIL
:D
Hah.
No, I love aniseed. Maybe one to save for later. I can drink spirits say four or five in a night without hassle but I think this will probably be a pretty late night, and I don't want to feel BLEURGH tomorrow.
How about some Black Label?
It aint cheap, but if you have the money to splurge.
Vodka?
Nah. I can drink it but it's a bit dull ain't it.
It's Scotch Whisky.
^ This.
Nah.
I can't drink whisky all night. I go bad.
What are you having for dinner?
Umm.
I haven't got a clue yet. Whatever looks good. Salmon or lamb probably.
Well, if you're having salmon
A clean sparkling wine is FANTASTIC on the pallet. For lamb, go for the standard Bordeaux or Rioja.
I missed the "bored with wine" line
I'll crawl back in my hole.
it was a good suggestion.
having a mother running a wine bar
= fantastique
oh jealous.
i could do with some real knowledge on wine. last night, drank half a bottle of the most disgusting white.
still paying for it now.
is this where someone types
"dinner?"?
:)
dinner?
:)
Mohijtos
I know there spirits but there a lovely cocktail.
I was about to say mojitos
or a blonde Leffe
yummmm
mojitos are great..
not too sweet, so you can drink them all night.
Alternatively you can make caipirinhas if you're not a fan of the mint in mojitos.. they're also not sickly sweet.. Main flavours are fresh lime and cachaca. perfect summer drink too..
.
CUBAN ALL STAR
mojito with ginger and cinnamon
i don't know if they make them outside raouls in oxford but they are FRESH!
hows aboot
Ginger wine - if you like ginger, its a bit sweet, so it needs to be mixed with lemonade.
Kahlua - make White Russians after dinner perhaps?
very easy :
Champagne !
get some
honey ale. it's not like beer.
This one...
...is a winner.
Ooh
That does sound yummy. Do you know any brand names?
Southern Gold
Nana Schute, and Rocky Racoon.
Great, thanks.
Some of this and some rice wine/sake I think (same thing isn't it?).
good choice.
yeh
young's waggle dance is quite kitch
also in sainsburys they have 4/5 honey ales.
don't refridgerate them, obviously you want them coolish though, cellar/cupboard cool.
shit
i ought to of replied to the ale section. i fail.
Rice wine?
I've never had any, and I doubt Tesco stock it... but still: rice wine?
Good idea.
I like that stuff. Haven't had it for ages.
sake?
try it warm.
did you know that
sake is often warmed to hide bad quality, and in many japanese restaurants you're best to order cold for the better quality sake?
wow, interesting information!
i kinda prefer it warm though. warm is supposed to increase the effect of the alcohol too.
Pimm's?
It's gone a bit cold for pimm's, mind.
Winter Pimm's?
i've not had this - is it good?
also, it is warm? i don't know if I'd want a warm drink with a main meal - it's a bit like having a cup of tea with a meal (should be nice but is a bit wrong).
I like it
you can have it cold or warm (like mulled wine). Just a bit spicier than the regular stuff.
No, warm drinks with food is kind of gross. Apart from tea and cake. Mmmm Jamaican ginger cake with a cup of tea....
or tea and toast
of course. but yeah, if the drink is warm, the food should be cold.
also, warm sake goes well with sushi!
sushi's largely cold isn't it?
actually dumb question, it's not cooked, so yeah it would be cold...
agwa,
that liquer thats made with coca leaves...sounds interesting
Get some fizzy Perfectly Clear...
and drink that with Vodka, it's ace.
yummmm pt.2
