100% yes from me
Even the bits everyone says are good now.
im there right fucking now
bit shit i guess
which bits are they?
:O
The centre and the Bullring
'no, they've done it all up now. It's not like it was.'
I know. It's still shit.
I second this.
just checking.
.
Got a wife got a family
Earn my livin' with my hand
I'm a roller in a steel mill
In downtown Birmingham
My daddy was a barber
And a most unsightly man
He was born in Tuscaloosa
But he died right here in Birmingham
CHORUS
Birmingham Birmingham
The greatest city in Alabam'
You can travel 'cross this entire land
But there's no place like Birmingham
got a wife named Mary
But she's called Marie
We live in a three room house
With a pepper tree
And I work all day in the factory
That's alright with me
Got a big black dog
And his name is Dan
Who lives in my backyard in Birmingham
He is the meanest dog in Alabam'
Get 'em Dan
OBVIOUSLY NOT THAT ONE
Though on second thoughts it obviously could be
It's pretty much a bigger version of Wolverhampton
And Wolverhampton is just a larger version of Slough, with an added terrible accent.
Or is Wolvo just a smaller version of Birmingham?
?
Either way, keep it away from me
I may be
...related to the place, but I can damn well deny it!
OKAY
Wolverhampton is now in Alaska.
That's a bit too far
I do have family I need to visit.
Perhaps just swap it with another city. Let's say Reykjavík.
* See any big ethnically-diverse UK city.
OY.
MASSIVE RACIST
Or not, whatever.
Dunno
Aren't most big cities "ethnically diverse"?
But
London, Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff, even Newcastle are all nicer than Birmingham.
And how ethnically-diverse the population is is pretty much irrelevant.
I live here
In birmingham :(
*comforts*
Birmingham is the nearest city to me
(excluding LOLichfield) and I can't say I like the place much other than the Custard Factory and the canals (more miles than Venice?)... prefer Nottingham and Leicester for days out and nights dancing.
LEICESTER FTW
don't like the order you put us in though >:
Leicester gets POINTS
for the proliferation of incredible sticker art and interesting independent shops, but Nottingham winners with direct trains from my town (in an hour! instead of making connections X) and the Social, Rescue Rooms, Stealth, etc
Fair enough
europeancakeghost also gets POINTS for saying nice things *eee*
Oh! And Leicester has the national space centre
that harbours a 1950s British made rocket inside a giant bubble and there's a planetarium too. I love that place <3
The Custard Factory?
please tell me that's a brothel.
Fruit shops
Galleries, warehouses, transient retail outlets, BASS, RAVES IN EMPTIED OUT POOLS, living wooden giants, it's basically a brightly coloured former ind. est.
Aye
That's the one thing that's impressed me about Brum. Much rather spend a day out in Manchester or Nottingham though (or London, obviously...)
Every time I've visited Birmingham I've been surprised
Considering how much bigger than Nottingham it is, it seems to have roughly the same number and kinds of shops/venues/events, but just a lot further apart. And Nottingham seems to have more interesting nights out, anyway, as far as I've found.
Birmingham has loads of gigs
Here are tonight's:
