ho r training it to taunton/minhead on the good old great western railway tomorrow? what train are you getting? i feel it my duty to join you all and get drunk and be an annoying twit all the way there.
(ps sorry this isn't on the festival board, but it's about socialising, not the festival)
x
i'll be on the 9:05 from
paddington getting to taunton at 10.47 :D
actually can't believe its atp time again
why the heck are you getting there so darn early?
is it to do with working?
i'm getting really, really excited, especially as i only just got hold of the tickets :D
i always get there
early! then trip to Lidl, and then probably mean getting to minehead for about 1pm or something. i might need to help out on check-in...
where is the lidl?
about 5 mins away
from the station, just start walking down the hill into taunton and its on the right hand side. cheap ouzo!
fantastic, i might have to call in there
though then again, i bet everyone else is getting the train...
not the train, the bus,
oh well, we'll see
9:30 at paddington
for the 10:00 train. bunch of people going then.
so that would be the !0:30ish from Reading then?
sweet we'll try to get on that one i reckon.
*does miniature atp dance*
it's direct
so about 10:20 i would think?
i'll check, but it's about 25 mins at least from London to Reading
ok it's 10:27
the boyfriend and i
are getting the 0932 from reading as it only take 1 hr 15 mins compared with AAAAGES for the rest of the trains... i think it's the same one jamie's getting.
that means getting up around the same time i do for work tho
screw that!
pfffffffffffffffffffffff
but if you get a later one you'd not be getting up much later, surely???
well if i leave an hour later
i can lay in bed an hour longer...
when i came from chichester
i had to get the 8am train!
oh i remember how trains used to be
with their late night runnings and their other things and the morning one used to be at 8:06 and not 8:03, which makes a massive difference.
I feel bad about this
promises an all.
seriously dude, don't
in some ways i'd rather just cotch on a train where i can move a round and get tipsy anyway.
what are you doing this fair eve?
off to Reading via train.
my henley mate's meating his reading mate in reading, not sure what from there, might watch england vs Scotland Legends. What about you and Sophia? cheeky ATPint?
The more i think about it, I am mightily relieved that I don't have to drive though. I always drive.
i completely empaphise with that
the way there would be ok, but it's just such a drag on the way back, especially given that everyone else can sleep and you are stuck struggling to stay awake.
yeah a cheeky pint could be a good idea. Sophia is going dress shopping later or something, so we'll both be in town after work, what time are you getting here?
about 8? maybe a touch before
i'll send you a text from the train i get
cool
also
if it weren't for the taxi/bus at the far end, I'd rather go by train. Just booked my London-Paris return for the summer, now for my Paris-Madrid and Barcelona-Paris tickets!
<3 train travel
same as,
trains are fantastic, i'd say it's certainly my favourite form of transport. i miss getting night trains to stansted, a little bit blazed listening to music full of expectations of the destination and the like
the bus ride is fun too though, and not too far.
k i'm in with the guntrip train
i THINK
i don't see any reason why you wouldn't get that train really
it is afterall going to be ppArTyP central!
will have words with some IRL types
some might be lifted, from the shadows, in a car
are we not doing the DEEEEAL?
is this going to be meeeggaaa expensivree?
have you reached the point where you are too exciteed to care?
i couldn't find anyone to go with
but it's only about £20 pounds more to get the train, than to drive, and i really don't want to drive, and i do love trains and i have a few vouchers from my season ticket that i should very much like to make use of, like a pastry and the like
plus, pArTyP train FTW!!!
surely that's the idea of all meeting up?
MEGADEAL
so you haven't all bought tickets yet?
considering the thread i made
i certainly havent, and i doubt daniel has, as he knows the power of A DEAL
hmmm
in that case unless any two people want to get tickets from Reading with us, i'd be more than happy to join some londonites getting the deal
i'm confused
is the group travel deal by train?
is there some specific train you've gotta get?
either way, me+1 are very up for the deal if anyone else is looking for peeps.
unless
you're talking about a different deal and i just intruded on your thread. in which case, sorry :0)
i'm talking about the 4 for 2 deal
but i though ttthat was only advance, but if not, \m/ :D
we all just meet up
group up in 3s and 4s and travel for less than half price
or at least that's my belief
so obviously all welcome
i think.
i hate sounding at all in charge. i dont even have a ticket for the festival, just the promise that it'll all be alright
haha!
this
might just be crazy enough to work
signs
would it be foolish or a little *too* organised to arrange some sort of meeting point/time for people to arrive at, and wait for others until a 4 is formed to get tickets? atp goers probably look distinctive enough without some sort of sign, but if you wanted to make a sign...
light weights!``
My train is at 6:40.
i'm getting the 11.05 from paddington
so yeah.
also my grandparents are giving me a lift from Taunton because they live near there. :D
^this
can i have a lift too?
is just you?
and probably no. i mean i'm going back to my grandparents for a bit because they want to see me and they will probably feed me cake. as nice as you are i'm not sure they would want to invite you round for tea+cake. soz.
hi gang!
i'm taking the 9.05 from paddington to taunton. i think jamie summers from the internet will be on the same train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what time should i get to paddington? 8.30? trains scare me.
10:00 train?
madness. I like my lie-ins.
Can ATP be delayed by a couple of days please? I don't feel like I am quite mentally prepared for it yet.
Envy though!
i don't think i could mentally wait any longer!
i agree with this
maybe next weekend yeah?
i disagree so much its not even funny
my tummys got started with the dancing already.
:D
from 5 pm it's going to be non-stop YAYTP DANCE!!!
*bump*
seriously, i *need* the deal, or i'm teatotalling and living on noodles all weekend. help!
i'm happy to do some organising, just need a solid coalition of the willing and a vague idea of times.
where are you coming from?
i'm coming from reading
(with kidamnesiac54) on the 0932 train so if you can spot us... SHOUT and we can DEAL it up. although i do have a young persons reailcard so not sure if it would be any cheaper...
so do i,
does the deal not work with a YP railcard?
hmmm
not sure... i just assumed that if there are 4 of you, you have to pay half of whatever the full price would be (not the discounted yp railcard fare)?? who knows. I AM TOO EXCITED TO CARE!!!!
can't use it with YP railcard
but groupsave = 50% discount which is better than the YP discount.
london
so paddington i think.
i imagine the deal probably isn't further discounted by a young person's railcard. but having one probably doesn't bar you from the deal.
ok, can anyone confirm that?
also, what is the end of Peak time on the trains?
group of 4
going paddington to minehead, with group save, saver returns, comes to £126. that's departing from london on either the 10.00 or 11.05, getting into minehead at 13.57 or 14.27. any other trains, it doubles to £252, which is just silly.
i'm gonna call them once i'm out of the basement of this internet cafe, then i've got to wander round highgate for a bit waiting for a friend. will get back to you.
well in that case it doesn't make much difference to me than a YP from Reading
which will come to £64ish or just less for 2.
im so confused
explain to me whats going on later please xxxx
the trainline says
£55 for two people with YPRs from reading.....
to taunton or minehead?
i meant to taunton
how does the ticket to minehead work? as i thought no trains went there...
I haven't really read the thread
but I am hoping some people are getting the 11:05 train so we can do this groupsave thing. I am me and a real-life person so we need 2 people who are in a similar predicament.
Anyone?
hi
i think there will be 5 of us, plus you, so would need one more for maximum savings.
plus one real-life person
so we would have seven and be looking for
one more real person?
Any real people here?
oh and where are you people meeting
for those who are getting the 11:05?
near the ticket offices
is a good bet, then its easy to grab other ATP looking types.
From 10:30 so we can attempt to get seats? The train was ridiculously busy last year.
wouldn't you get assigned a seat?
i've been assigned a seat.
yeah me too
maybe because we were smart and actually booked in advance? probably?
exactly
yeah guys
we're totally the winnars. group hug?
we
are a two. we need a two. the 11.05 train would suit us. PM me if you're still up for it - that goes for anyone else coming across this thread too.
the official deal is (and i rang them three times about this, because one person quoted me £8 single either way. turns out that's bollocks) pretty much what i said above. group discount for 4 people from paddington works out at £31.50 each, and that includes the bus from taunton to minehead. without group discount, it's £65 each, not taking into account any railcards. you can't further discount the £31.50 with a railcard. you've got to travel there any time after 9.30am, and arrive back in london on the monday not before 11.00am - but i think that'd be most people's plan in any case.
would be really good to get this sorted tonight if anyone is in - will beat forcing my travelling companion to stand around with a placard saying "want group discount?"
includes bus?
how does that work?
yr
ticket is for minehead, not taunton (if you book it this way), so the bus fare is included. there's a non-atp affiliated train company bus goes from taunton to minehead, you jump on that and show them your ticket.
incidentally, i'm sorted for a group, thanks dis. no need to pay any more attention to my plea above.
