I recently got ticket for this and I'm starting to get excited. I can't wait to see No Age and The Mae-Shi. Yeasayer should be interesting but I haven't heard much of their stuff. Cadence Weapon look like they could get a party going, and I haven't seen a quality hip-hop act since my sis desided to start rapping Flight of the Concord tunes at me... the only others I know are Cuting Pink With Knives, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Napoleon IIIrd... so what other treats have I got in store?

Who's going and who's excited?

:( nobody?

NO AGE!!! THE MAE-SHI!!! now if that aint exciting I don't know what is...

I'm dead tempted by this

not sure if I'll end up going but boy do I want to and mainly for the bands you've mentioned but also for Slow Club.

it should be ace

I haven't been to the faversham before mind for some reason.

i'm there!

making the trip up from london especially! can't wait for No Age...anyone know what time its going on till?

The flyer says 4am

thats when the DJs finish I'm guessing. The Mae-Shi will easly get everyone partyin till well into the night if their last show was owt to go by. O hand welcome to the North for the weekend hehe.

Seriously

when did the Fav get so good. It used to only be djs and acts like gold smugglaz when I lived in Leeds back in '99-2003.

I have to much time on my hands

So I wrote a lil preveiw on my blog with links to the bands playing myspace's well I couldnt find anything on Hay! Panda :(

http://thesonicminefeild.blogspot.com/2008/05/nasty-fest-ix-preview-lets-get-excited.html

hey! panda is the band of a guy that lives a few doors down from my parents house

they're only young, and not been going long

halifax based, sound a bit like a noisier rapture.

pulled apart by horses are great live.

wonderswan not so when i saw them.

cool

I found them and added the link to my blog last night some one posted me the link... maybe it was you? hehe

wonderswan

are ace!

they were cock supporting you guys at the packhorse

i think they had to restart a song 4 times.

i'm hoping to...

make it along. yeasayer, no age and cadence weapon is pretty amazing. it's not a great venue... really good as a bar/pub, but the stage isn't ideally placed for viewing. sound's good though.

im going for sure

a place to bury strangers too right?

yep yep they are playing

I havent heard of them before but the tunes on their mypsace sound really good

I'm curriouse about times as well

maybe laer in the week we will find out.

There'll be two stages

if past experience is anything to go by.

I really want to go but am skint and might be too late now I fear.

I only got my ticket this week

so there could well be more left.

bump!

Its like on tomorow and everything... I can't wait :)

why not make a big weekend of it.....

at the brudenell social club, leeds - 5 minutes walk from the faversham....

friday night in leeds -

16 may CHINCHILLAFEST 6 - with GAY AGAINST YOU, COWTOWN, MUCKY SAILOR, BEARDS, CISSY - 7pm - £6

sunday after nastyfest, if you can handle it -

18 may CHINCHILLAFEST 6 - with a.P.A.t.T, QUACK QUACK, ZUKANICAN, BILBAO SYNDROME, CHOPS, BIG EYES FAMILY PLAYERS, GHOST FLEET - 4pm - £7

or you could pay for the £15 weekend ticket, run between the brudenell and the faversham on saturday, and get a free BILGE PUMP covers compilation!

all together, leeds is looking a lot better than minehead this weekend!

:)

Leeds is lookin ace this weekend

I will see what I can do... I just had to see No Age thats my main reason for choosing Nast Fest. Plus I'm skint and my sis bought me a ticket.

hell its all going off!

who needs ATP?

Yeah jimi

after the mae shi's york set, I bought a ticket and extended my stay away from uni to get down and jiggy with it. Hope the mae shi have any of those sound governators they were selling left, I well want one!

yay

wicked its gonna be so much fun. I'm well tempted by those lil mad boxes of noise.

you will hate me then

as I only just got back home.... it ws loadsa fun. Credance weapon were so good they well got the party started.... No Age got a mosh pit going and rocked it..... The Mae Shi where sooo good infact a friend and I kinda accidently started a stage invasion that lasted the back half of the set in which I met a mate again that I hadnt seen for about 9 years right next to me up there with the mae shi.... Yeasayer where pretty good and I was glad for a bit of a chill out after that maddness before.

Shame I

ripped my jeans :(

haha

ahhh well.

Cadence Weapon, No Age and Mae Shi =

so so so much :D

I hate the fav, and there were a few problems, but it wouldn't been double the price for those three. so, so, so good

Yep.

I enjoyed dinosaur pile-up as well. And the bit where cadence weapon came on stage and started rapping during yeasayer's set :D

I missed lots of Dinosaure pile-up

because it was rammed and I couldnt get that close so gave up cos the sounded sucked at the back....

That Cadence weapon freestyle in the yeasayer tune ... sunries I think it was... was brilliant. He is a well nice guy too I went and bought his CD off him and we bonded over Acid House & old jungle brothers lyrics... DJ Wheezel was a wicked guy too.

p.s.

It was nice meeting ya too :)

I left before that!

Whyyyyyy!?

:(

yep the fav was a bit lame

but those bands really rocked it.

Shame

Cutting Pink With Knives pulled out, they would have been class

this was a good laugh

highlights being Cadence Weapon, Mae Shi and Pulled Apart by Horses

disapointment being No Age. really, really boring, i was expecting much more.

also

the crowd during Cadence Weapon was literally the most hilarious thing i've ever seen.

loads of skinny white scenesters pretending they're black and that they like hip hop

all the hipsters cracked me up

bless um the fav is full of um you couldnt move for them sometimes.

^ :D

I really liked No Age

but I was well excited about seeing them so they could have done anything and I would have been pleased. I would happily see them again to compare performances.

I agree about No Age

Not sure what I was expecting but they didn't really do it for me at all...

Best band on the night

was Pulled Apart By Horses in my opinion. Incredible stuff. I missed Monotonix though, heard they were pretty intense. Dinosaur Pile-Up were good as well. Didn't enjoy the Mae Shi myself but thought yeasayer were pretty hypnotic.

yeasayer

where a really nice end to the bands I good chillout session after the last few bads.

last night was excellent

highlights included
monotix performance [theatrically if not musically, fighting them for my hat]
Slow Club [who can't put a foot wrong in my mind]
Cadence Weapon [can't help but get moved by his energy, there was such a lack of pretense it was easy to let yourself go]
The Mae Shi [they were the one's i was most looking forward to and wasn't disappointed, especially the stage invasion and slow club collaboration]

Seriously can't wait to see THE MAE SHI and JO/FO in Sheffield on TUESDAY now.

I also really enjoyed Old Romantic Killer Band [replacement for CPWK and really pared down bluesy grunge rock or something like that but much better than that sounds]

I'm gutted I missed monotix

I was fucked afyter the No Age moshin or Mae Shi invading I cant rember which.

Monotonix

Were the first band on, they played in the middle of the room... and set fire to stuff... and rode around on peoples' heads playing drums. Absolutely nuts.

oh man

that sounds wicked I well missed them then by miles... Ah wel I will look out for them another time.

Well, that was fun

What an enjoyable day that was. I enjoyed Yeasayer immensely, also A Place To Bury Strangers.

Seeing everyone go nuts when I played Andrew WK afterwards was another highlight.

All in all, the best Nasty Fest yet I'd say.
