I am sad to say it, but I was bored shitless.

Some of the new tunes actually had more going for them than a lot of the stuff on their last two albums, but nevertheless they really do seem like a band stuck in a comfort zone.

Ironically, though, Like Herod was the best I have ever heard it - which might suggest that while the dynamics of the band have grown, their ideas haven't.

I enjoyed it immensely

Great sound, new stuff sounds excellent and a nice mix of older songs thrown in. Bonus having Aiden Moffat as support too despite the girl behind me giggling at all the rude words.

But...

It was seated! Most civilised gig I've been to in a while...

I hadn't

been to bed since Saturday evening and my body was begging for mercy. Still is.

My fucking ears

are begging for mercy right now.

They were loud. And brilliant. New stuff was mega.

to be fair

they did pick the slightly more obscure tracks from their back catalogue, and i thought that all of the new stuff sounded many many times better than the 'mr. beast' stuff.

One day someone will write a review of a mogwai gig

and not mention ringing ears.

One day.

It wasn't really meant

as a review, more an expression of alarm. It's really bad. I feel like I've had my head stuffed with cotton wool. I'm going the way of Townshend, minus the internet mishaps obviously.

Like me after seeing Melvins in 2006

Started wearing earplugs recently and I'm glad I was last night. It was loud even with 26dB lopped off!

Therein

lies the kernel of my disappointment.

Yes they're loud. But is that really the only impression they wish to make on people?

What happened to the delicacy, the lightness of touch? I blame Barry :-D

i dunno

seeing them at somerset house last time attempting to battle people talking with the sensitive stuff, kinda made me glad they are holding off that at the moment. theres a time and a place for it.

although, once dom's bass came in at the end of 'scotlands shame', it was pretty much noise from thereon out.

it wasn't as good as last time i saw them

but i still came out of it convinced they're the best live band in the world.
disappointed some of the hits (helicon 1 or 2 rights make 1 wrong would've been nice) didn't turn up, but like herod and tracy held that part of the show well.
the new tracks sounded brilliant, just as good as the back catalogue. i like how they never need to drastically change themselves, they just add little bits to their formula and it works incredibly well.

Bat

I think that's what it was called - 3 from the end. Amazing new track. Blew my fucking head off...

batcat

is was called i think.

i thought they were brilliant as usual. i've never been to a sit down gig before. it was ok, i didn't like the fact that if you went for a beer, you weren't allowed back in until they finish a song.

i thought they

were amazing. really liked the new stuff, and didnt play the "hits" (no glasgow mega snake?) made it a more rounded experience. all in all very good. looking forward to the new album

New stuff was really loud

and ace. The single is quite something. My girlfriend didn't have earplugs and was still deaf on the train this morning.

So it was Tracy they dedicated to Halifax?

We're No Here is becoming a bit of a standard end track for them no?

I quite liked Remember Remember- well they bored me at first, but their last two tracks were pretty good I thought. Moffat was absolutely hilarious.
