We all know it was a great weekend but what for you broke this trend?
For me Vampire Weekend have done what I thought not possible and thats make me totally feel repeled by a band after a shoddy live peroformance. Whilst nothing went wrong pe'say they were just irrritating... they had the charisma of a accountant in a grey suit and the stage banter was so cringe worthy that I wanted Times New Viking to come up on stage and do that Heath Ledger joke again..
How bout for u guys?
Yeasayer were a bit of a let down
Not bad as such, but just expected a little bit more. It was fucking hot though.
Really wasn't into Glass Candy either, but it's not my thing really more than being shit, as such.
I quite liked Yeasayer
Glass Candy were excelent fun for a Friday night I thought, really one show that stood out for me.
Yeasayer were massively dull...
esp. having seen them in Brooklyn last month with Man Man and enjoying them much more (and being bored by Man Man there - who were excellent at ATP...)
Yeasayer were brilliant!
I thought the only problem with their set was the revolting temperature in the room, it was unbearable!
yes
Vampire Weekend were frustrating. They have these great songs (and I still think the album is brilliant) but they are so dull live. I think if they added a second guitarist, and the keyboard player sang a bit more it would make a massive amount of difference. It just seemed so one dimensional to me.
In a way I feel a bit sorry for them that they have had so much hype, but are still clearly not a fully developed live band. On the other hand, I don't, because they could be a lot better, even with just the four of them.
I still had fun as the songs are great, but I was, at the same time, very disappointed.
this is what's wrong with this site
stop being so negative ALL THE TIME EVERYONE> ENJOY THE GOODNESS!
Indeed
Meat Puppets were the bestest ever. Totally blown away! Cris Kirkwood is a legend. Even when they were grinning and twatting their guitars instead of actually playing them it still sounded amazing!
the meat puppets were the best thing I saw all weekend
i was about to say that too
get positive!
I was just expressing an opinion!
I was genuinely disappointed.
I had a fantastic time at the festival though, as demonstrated by my post in the other thread.

I agree about Vampire Weekend
Very little variation from on record, and just seemed very bored to be there. I thought Apse were terrible too.
On a more positive note, Jens Lekman was one of the loveliest sets I've ever seen!
im going to see
jens lekman at the scala soon. does anybody know what songs he played?
maple leaves
black cab
nina
summers night
opposite of...
uuuum can't remember
Maple Leaves
was fab
Aaaaand...
the 30 seconds I watched of Born Ruffians was so bad I was forced to talk to the bar staff just for entertainment value...
I thought
that Born Ruffians were fab, although they played maybe a little too long. All the album stuff was good, especially the final 3 tracks.
Sebadoh were the biggest disappointment for me, they didn't seem to want to be there at all. Even were diabolical too, I walked off when he introduced a track as "Indie Stadium Rock".
the worst 30 seconds of my life...
and I've been abused as a kid
Clientele were/are fucking shit
Listen!
To what the flower people say..
:)
yeasayer
they were fine last time i saw them, but i wanted to set fire to them after two songs. had to leave.
having said that, i'd forgotten the clientele were even there until i just read their name. getting a cob on because you're on early on friday and people like you more in america? way to appear like a dick, sir.
vampire weekend were on too early i thought, a little later and that same set would have gone down fine.
