Great show. Started just after 8 in perfect fashion, opening with Fiesta/Take Me Away set the mood and they rocked all the way through until half 10. Great mix of songs from different eras I thought; awesome solos by Dean on a few songs (Voodoo Lady, Zoloft spring to mind). Generally the band were in a playful mood, although Gene didn't banter too much with the crowd, but they did take a couple of requests, playing You F***ed Up after an audience chant before ending the show with Someday.
I overheard a few people complaining the show wasn't the full three hours "they were promised". Personally, I think this is a touch greedy, two and half hours is plenty much, especially when they were probably jet-lagged. Also, I managed to catch the last train back rather than having to get the always risky bus replacement service. Result.
It's a shame to think they won't be back in the UK for some time probably. I'm not convinced they'll go down a storm tmw at ATP with people who havn't heard a great deal of Ween given their rather long set, but they certainly do play very well together and are definitely worth going to watch, even if not for the full 2-3 hours.
Anyone else go? Thoughts? Would love to see some pics if there are any floating about, turns out my camera phone is rather turd.
This was the first disappointing Ween show I've attended.
No blame attaches to the band, who were excellent as usual, but the sound was absolutely shocking, and rendered virtually all the lyrics inaudible.
It was also ridiculously rammed and I found myself jammed against the back of the stalls, being trodden on all the time.
I bowed out at the two hour mark.
