1. Can you take alcohol into the performance arena?
2. Is there late night dancy stuff?
3. Easy to get to from London?
My work has screwed up my summer by getting in the way of Glastonbury and Primavera so looking for something in July to do. If anyone has other recommendations in the UK or Europe, I'd be much obliged....
1. officially no, but you can try and sneak it in. the stuff they sell is nice anyway
2. yes last year there were djs in the woods til about 4 and a big 'guilty pleasures' tent and stuff like that
3. i think national express do festival coaches direct from london, otherwise you can get the train to halesworth and get a shuttle bus from the station to the site.
Depends what you want really. If you go for the music and don't bother with much else (like me), then werchter is hard to beat. However if you want to go and see other stuff, then latitude seems to have plenty of that.
Never that bothered about watching comedians, myself, although Ross Noble is pretty good.
All confirmed by Uncut btw.
Glad to hear it
Very much looking forward to Latitude :D
Johnny Foreigner!!!
Also Lightspeed Champion, but no one likes him.
what is this johnny foreigner?
i keep hearing about them
are you being sarcastic?
cos i think you would like them from what you like already.
nah i've never heard them
keep meaning to check them out... this is the perfect excuse.

yep, national express
do dedicated coaches from victoria for about £30 return: http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/destinations/events/Latitude.cfm?utm_source=Redirect&utm_medium=Marketing&utm_term=Emotional&utm_content=Latitiude&utm_campaign=Latitude
this is looking dangerous for clashes
do they still do the "all the tents end before the main stage headliner is on" thing?
There's possible Mars Volta/Sigur Ros and MIA/Breeders/Grinderman clashes which are putting me off going.
Main stage headliner clashes with second stage headliner.
So Mars Volta clash with Sigur Ros, yes :(
^This would be seriously annoying
And I really wanted to go aswell, I'm kind of glad that I wont be. It wouldn't be quite as appealing anyway.
Another option
Werchter in Belgium. 3-6 july. REM, Radiohead, Neil Young, loads more. And it doesn't have a poetry arena.
But does it have
Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, Rich Hall and Frankie Boyle?
No, it doesn't

werchter lineup is PERFECT.
literally.
but
it's only two stages and doesn't really seem like much of a "festival"
guillemots, beth orton,
metronomy, deus, black kids, and a few more..
all confirmed.
Holy chode
