Finally got round to listening to Strawberry Jam, I really really didn't like it and it was a struggle to get all the way through. I did only listen to it once, but there was no immediacy whatsoever and absolutely nothing that made me want to revisit it.
The rest is just great. Can't wait to see No Age, kicking myself about missing Japanther.
strawberry jam is good
not their best album, sure, but worthy of a few tries at least.
not really
why not?
surely it's worth more than to be dismissed after one listen?
maybe i suppose
but not if you struggle to get through one listen. I've tried it a few times and nothing's stuck really.
WHEN
did Japanther play?! and where :)

8 If two Liquorball LPs just randomly appeared in your local record shop would you buy them? Are they as good as Monoshock?
Buy them!
The songs are much longer than Monoshock but it has the same kind of vibe without sounding the same. On one track the vocals sound a bit black metal. All good.
I just did a little search and found this
http://revolverusa.blogspot.com/2008/04/liquorball-resurrected.html
Guess that is how the shop near you got some copies. Hope Midheaven still have these in stock.
Playing with Steve Mackay too!
Nice. Hopefully they'll still be there on Wednesday.
What Funkadelic?
I put Free Your Mind on a mixtape this week. Followed by Youth of America by The Wipers. That's some real length.
Odd bits of the first album
Free Your Mind is my favourite though. Friday Night Aug. 14th is the tune to put on when you're happy.
I've been listening to a bit of that Jay Reatard fella in prep for next week and he plays guitar exactly like Greg Sage some of the time.
Completely agree
he's good though. A lot of this recent noisy mob remind me of Wipers. Even stuff like TNV and Black Lips. Wish I could see Jay live actually.
You're sort of near London aren't you?
He appears to be playing there about 9999 times in the next week or two.
Not during term time I'm not
I'm in Bristol, and right now is exam-o-rama. I'm already slacking off by bunking off to go and see Mogwai at RFH next monday (and thus missing Times New Viking at the tiniest most awesomest venue ever- epic fail) and the Jay dates don't really fit around that. Rubbish.
well
you can't say he didn't try to put on enough gigs for London(ish) people :(
Good luck in your exams and get off the internets and do some work etc etc etc

1. Brilliant minimal techno, perhaps with a little shoegaze influence in the same vein as The Field.
3. I refrained from listening to them until the hype died down. It's a really good pop album. I really like their approach to guitar parts.
5. Lovely post-rock. Some bits sound like Rachel's, some bits like Six Organs, some bits like DMST.
