The 'where do I start with?' META THREAD

oh yes. We have a constant war on here between the 'where do I start with the Fall / Nick Cave / The Smiths etc etc' requesters and the DiSsers who like to roll their eyes and say 'we've done this before'.

Therefore I propose a thread in which each post contains simply the name of a band/artist and that person's choice for 'where to start'. See my example below.

You are not allowed to dispute the person's choice, once a band has been taken no more posts on that band are allowed. This post will eventually cover all bands with more than one album and be carved in a granite monolith to stand for all time.

Just out of curiosity..

What happens if a band releases a new album which is unanimously (to a reasonable extent) agreed to be a better starting point than any of their previous releases? Will the thread be updated then, or are rules rules?

The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow

pedant's corner...

Thank you.

I'm sure I'll find plenty of company there.

All bands who appear on this thread

are henceforth banned from releasing new material (unless it is demonstratably inferior to what they have done previously).
