Now then...

You may of seen this on the forum, but basically I went to Field Day last year and obviously it had serious teething problems.. bogs, sound, beer, etc, etc...
Well I emailed them to see what the crack was with this year because i'm still tempted by the price and the lineup and this is what they sent back, i think i may be there again..

Sorry its quite long, but seems like they have covered all bases.

Following on from last years Field Day Festival we would like to reassure people we are tackling the major issues that arose and ensure there are no repeats of last years problems.
This year we have brought in specialist events agency Ear To The Ground to ensure this years exciting line up is matched with fully professional event management. Ear To The Ground has experience in running some of the biggest events in the country and was responsible for launching this years Liverpool European Capital of Culture.
The most common complaints we received last year were in relation to the queues for the bars, the toilets and the sound levels.
Bars
We have appointed Peppermint bars to oversea all the bars at Field Day 2008. Peppermint bars have experience in running the bars at Bestival and the Glade festival. We have increased the number of bars throughout the site and they will serve a range of drinks quickly and professionally. We also have special smaller bars spread throughout the site for rapid dispensing and bars serving more specialist drinks.
Catering
Catering will be handled by VSC Events who have a vast amount of experience providing quality catering to large scale events such as Electric Picnic. Again we have increased the amount of concessions to ensure more diversity of choice on offer. Full list of food concessions will be on our website in the coming weeks.
Toilets
In 2007, it was obvious on the day that many more toilets were required. Using Ear To The Ground's experience of providing for large events, we're going to make sure that the number of toilets is more than adequate to service the site this year and this provision will be significantly above the recommended level. These will include both normal portaloos and also urinals which can reduce queues substantially.
Sound Levels
One of the biggest challenges that any promoter faces working in an urban park is getting the sound levels from the stages right. Every local authority has rules about the amount of noise you can make to ensure that people living nearby aren't unnecessarily disturbed. We've been working with the local authority since November last year and have employed a specialist noise consultancy, Vanguardia, to redesign the site and calculate what levels we need to put on a great show. Vanguardia have worked across live music from Wembley Stadium gigs to the Download festival and are very well regarded within the business. We are confident that with the conditions we have negotiated for our entertainment license and the day to day management from Vanguardia, we will achieve a significant volume increase throughout the site to complement the exciting line up we have secured this year.
There will be a new ticketing and guest list system implemented on arrival, and all signposting will be improved both to and from the site.
All stages will show running times which will also be posted on our website prior to the event.
Once again please be assured we are committed to making Field Day a great day for all. We hope to see you in August.

i read the abreviated version

i was thinking of emailing them about it, but it seems that this answers my questions one way or another.

I had an ace

time last year, I used the urinals and we bought a massive box of wine to drink under the trees so I wasn't bothered by the queues too much. This year promises to be even better, and I live on Victoria park this time round, I can practically see the site from my living room window.

is this a JAG?

all your posts are about Field Day.
Anyway, good because I am going.

I am still concerned though because from what I hear of last year, it was less a case of traditional teething problems and more a case of being true retards in failing to think properly, or trying desparately to maximise profits.

No just a Drowned Virgin..

That came out a bit dodgy...!

I still dont know if im 100% on board. It was pretty chronic last year and they have not been very public with the changes... I think il see nearer the time. Plus the line up for reading is getting insane.

nah, not enough hardc0re

or dillinger escape plan

Not sure yet...

but fair play.
Surprised to see Richie Hawtin on the bill.. techno techno techno!

i'd already bought a ticket for this year

based on the lineup and price... nice to see the non-music side of it should be up to scratch too!

Ordered my ticket

Even though queueing for the bar was one of the worst experiences in my life, I still had a really good time, and the line up is even better this time around. And if you want really good sound then you have to be up near the front, I thought this was obvious. Justice were terrific from this perspective.
