Anyone seen it yet? It was realeased last week and I watched it and was so happy to see a proper vampire horror film again it made me so happy...only problem is they're probably setting it up to be a series which is lame. Why can't anyone just make one lovely piece of film and leave it at that?
It's got some proper scary vampire villains that utterly creep you out and some great tension and suspense, aside from the end - oh, and it's well gory too!
Thoughts?
Not seen it
but 30 Days Of Night IS a series
I brought it but still haven't seen it
It's on "the pile"
looks pretty good though
I thought it was pretty rubbish to be honest!
Vampires were a complete joke, especially when they spoke (what was that language all about?)
Also hated several moment of the score (big metal song at the end hmm). And the plot was just the usual.
i liked that
the vampires were more ancient like - not the romanticized ones that are usually in films & the language was made up to be like an ancient language, the actor who played him explains a bit about it in this video if I can find it...
Funeral For A Friend
Review of the movie and a little ditty about the vampire language.

Not like ;real' vampires then, yeah?
I hate it when people criticise horror films for being unrealistic, etc...WTF, it's a horror film, suspend your disbelief!
A certain sense of realism and consistency
adds to the horror though. Never seen 30 Day but I think it can be a fair criticism
well,
I know the graphic novels are a series, but it would just be nice if the movie was just one...if they want to make a series than put it on the sci-fi channel or something as a tv series rather than a bunch of movies that will get played out and boring
Fucking ace!
Genuinely chilling. I loved the gradual feeling of sheer dread that builds up during the film.
the comic it is based on
had sequels so I dont see the problem (although the creators well over exposed themselves with milions of very similar titles)
terrible
is anyone going to say anything about the acting being awful or that vampire speak getting on their fucking nerves.
i don't want to say subtitles, because that might be corny, but there has to be something to let us know what the fuck they're talking about.
it had some ok gory moments, but overall...
blah.
what u mean??
it has subtitles for the vampires???? u must have seen a didgy copy or your dvd playin isnt working. cos they have subtitles in that film
I thought it was shite.
too long, too dull, too stupid.
*SPOLIER*
I know what I need to do - I need to juice myself up on Vampire blood. Then walk straight past a bunch of vampires that have spent the entire film trying to eat me but now leave me alone to go and beat up their boss. Then they just leave.
Record label, anyone?
Mini-LOL.
haha
i was gonna say that.
the record label owns.
anyone else think
that that head vampire looked like Michael Barrymore ?
Yup!!!
That was my only issue with the film!
I thought they were gonna bottle the ending and make it some sappy crap, glad they didint.
It looked great, especially the sequence were they move trough the snow storm....looked like the comics art.
It did sag a bit in the middle...still good though.
Oh, most graphic decapitation ever as well??! That scene had me wincing like a little girl!
^^^ eh?
ooover me head...!
The film is really alright, would have benefited from some Se7en/Jacobs Ladder style directorship to bring it up to the gruesomeness of the comic but it didn't bring the source material into disrepute. The next book in the series would make a good film but let's hope they leave it there as the series goes waaaaaaay downhill after that. E.g. vamires in space. yes. that bad.
Meh..
Yeah it was alright.
I can't say I was too frightened, except maybe when the vampires got in really close when talking to their victims - those dreadful teeth kept making me think how bad their breaths must have smelt.
found it strange
-ly beautiful to watch
