but every time i put it on i really enjoy it. i'm not sure i could really pin point individual songs, but that's part of the charm; it just kind of drifts by. and i'm not sure where their "sound" ends and their "music" begins with a band like that; i mean, you could throw out the old argument that their songs would likely fall apart if they were played solo on an acoustic guitar but i think that's kind of missing the point.
but it's late and i'm supposed to be writing a dissertation proposal and i'm explaining myself badly so i'll stop.
it is difficult to separate their sound from their music because of its drawn out, impressionistic nature, but i don't think they quite capture it even on that level. The depth and warmth of their sound is great, but i don't think they pull it into any framework well enough. Obviously it's more mood than anything else, but they seem to lack the natural compositional edge to end things before they've outstayed their welcome, or provide something which flows in a gratiying manner

HAY EVERYONE
I listen to Brightblack Morning Light even though they are merely a bunch of stupid hippies with a "Rhodes Piano"
hippies are great
as long as you don't have to smell them
you've reminded me that
i haven't listened to bbml in ages. good album, that.
i'm not sure if it is a "good album"
i think i like their sound more than i like their music
I saw them live
and they really got on my wick.
There was a lot of posing and it all sounded the same. But I quite like Sunn :OOO))__)). Go figure
perhaps,
but every time i put it on i really enjoy it. i'm not sure i could really pin point individual songs, but that's part of the charm; it just kind of drifts by. and i'm not sure where their "sound" ends and their "music" begins with a band like that; i mean, you could throw out the old argument that their songs would likely fall apart if they were played solo on an acoustic guitar but i think that's kind of missing the point.

Obviously it's more mood than anything else, but they seem to lack the natural compositional edge to end things before they've outstayed their welcome, or provide something which flows in a gratiying manner
i'm also explaining myself badly. Bah
My take
It sounds like Morcheeba
that settles it..
