Prince was a surprise late addition to this year’s Coachella bill, announced last week a few months after this lot. What should also probably come as a surprise is the $4.8m (£2,417,101) pay cheque organisers have handed the diminutive singer for the pleasure of his company in LA later this month.
The move comes as a ploy to “sell more tickets and make up for a less than stellar – in comparison to years past – roster of performers,” according to Perez Hilton, though a showbiz source assures DiS that we should be wary of Hilton as he's a dreadful, dreadful excretion of a human being.
Coachella takes place from the 25th ‘til the 27th of this month in Empire Polo Field, Indio, California.

they tried this trick with Madonna a couple of years back, she did I think a four-five song set, though I have no idea what her paycheque was like for that... mogwai headlined over her though!
Prince was absolutely stellar here last year, how would he fare at a festival..? though with that amount he'd be expected to bring a lightshow, fireworks or some Kiss style £D malarkey, surely?

get paid a bucket load- and most of them dont get anywhere close to prince
Don't forget he probably employs 300+ road team for all his set, lights, full band etc....theres about 10-12 members of his band and dancers alone....
I reckon it's well worth it....from the point of view of the number of people who will by tickets JUST to see him...

i saw him 13 times (plus aftershows) last year, i hope for all the people going he decides to just play a greatest hits because then coachella won't know what hit it. And Kraftwerk playing too? i must admit, i am seriously jealous.
I will be there
for the 5th year running. I caught the last of the 02 shows last year. It was rather epic. In spite of this, i am more excited about seeing Redd Kross.

Saw him 4 times at the O2 last year, the man is frankly incredible.
