Seattle band Lesbian currently on a UK/European tour drop into Manchester 15 April 2008 :-
This band take their music from many different influences but it leans towards Post-rock/Psychodelic/Progressive/Metal (in other words heavy). Like Pelican only with shredding.
Lesbian are also playing at The Roadburn Festival next weekend in Holland along with the likes of Cult of Luna, Boris, ISIS, Jesu and others.
Signed to eccentric record label HolyMountain Records (home of Om and Six Organs of Admittance) Lesbian have an album to promote. Lesbian's debut album, "Power Hör" [on Holy Mountain records] is considered the birth of the New Wave of American Psychedelic Metal. "Power Hör" will be released on vinyl by Roadburn Records, in a limited edition on vinyl of 500 copies. Released February 1st, 2008.
Pombagira are the UK support band with the be-cloaked Lethean Sound (SunO))), Earth etc)opening up on the night.
they are/have already
played Glasgow too. I was curious with regards to how they sound, but 'Lesbian' is truly one of the worst band names EVER
too true.....
True about the name but in one sense I don't blame them for doing something like that. There must be many times in recent history when a band was getting nowhere then a name change got them noticed.
On the other hand I know a few people who would never listen to Godspeed just because of their name and see whatthey missed.
But I sort of liked the heavy instrumentals Lesbian play anyway so I'm going.
Godspeed You Black Emperor
is an amazing name though. Lesbian is gash (if you'll pardon the crass pun)
It's at Star & Garter, Manchester
Forgot to say where they are playing - Its the Star & Garter on Fairfield Street alomost opposite Piccadilly Train Station new entrance.
I see that DIS have Lesbian listed but haven't put details of their tour dates.
They are playing with Boris
at Roadburn. Good, that gives them some credibility. They do remind me of Pelican. And I think Pelican was at Roadburn last year as well - might look at this festival for 2009.
