The best album ever made?

I think so.

Its so fucking intense

even today.
I first heard it when i was 14, and i nearly threw up.

I saw them at

my second-ever gig, supporting System of a Down in (I think) 2002. I didn't think much of those songs when I first heard them (I actually believe I laughed).

Now of course, the tables are entirely turned. Caculating Infinity is incredible.

For my first ever gig

a friend took me to see Dillinger, and Mono were supporting....I was quite blown away. Especially considering that I wasn't really familiar with either of the bands at the time.

that is quite a gig

for your first ever!

...

Apart from all their others? And Catch 33 by Meshuggah. Dead fuckin' right.

its in my top 5

of all time. Possibly the best album to listen to if you want to forget about whatever your thinking about, there's nothing like it.

Weekend Sex Change

It's certainly DEP's best album. As far as this genre goes though, Lye by Mistake's Arrangements for Fulminating Vective blows it out of the water. Yarp.

Awesome

Though I've been shot down for this but Ire Works is their best album. It incorporates bits from all the older albums.

...

I fully agree. Calculating Infinity ia an incredible record, but you can't deny the upwards progression they've made.

yes i can

ok..i haven't heard their latest.

so that was hasty.

but miss machine was shite

well if you thnk miss machine was shite

then youll fucking hate the new one.

i was in soundcontrol and discussing this with one of the assistants

he agreed with my analysis of miss machine being terrible attempt patton worship and NIN-lite electronica.

He said they have come back to form in the latest release.

I will check it out in case he's right

What exactly has changed

since MM? If what he says is true, then it's still true now.

...

That's true. Apart from the it being shite. Because it's actually amazing.

totally agree

it's a much more concise and creative album, and much more entertaining to listen to. '...Infinity' is still kick-ass mind

Probably

the heaviest album ever made. Apart from their eps the other stuff just doesn't compare. Destro's Secret and Clip The Apex are terrifying.

I have purchased this recently.

I wouldn't be surprised if it kills a few brain cells each time you listen to it, yet at the same time it's pretty clever music. I definitely need to give it some playing time soon, I liked Ire Works so it's not completely unknown teritory for me.

I like it

but i much prefer Miss Machine.

<insert people rabbling on about how wrong i am here>

<click link on DEP from around a month ago to see the arguments i've already put forth re: what you heard first>

<end post>

My issues with

Miss Machine and Ire Works is that comparatively, I get bored of them.
Thats certainly true for Miss Machine, Ire Works is a much better fare, there are just certain tracks I find myself skipping (Black Bubblegum, Acting As A Particle, Sick On Sunday) which spoil the flow of the album.
This has never happened for Calculating Infinity, its completely spot on the whole way through. There is never a single song you relgiously know all the way through, there will always be one little tweak or change in time or dischord you are not expecting.

I am not one of the diehards about the old style though, the progression theyve made is badass, and Ire Works has some of their best songs on it, in terms of a full album though, I enjoy Calculating Infinity.

yeah, it's truely brutal

but i wouldn't go with best album ever, nor would i call it their best album, as i cannot choose.

It is amazing

It is the best debut album this excellent band put out.

There - we can all agree.

i need to buy this

i only have miss machine and ire works but i love both

nope :(

i said i was going to buy it a while back but i never got round to buying it

Woah.

I've never heard of this album or band. So I've just listened to a few clips on allmusic.

Woah. Jesus Fuck. I'll be getting this :D

its a brilliant album

but Minus's Jesus Christ Bobby pisses on it (as it does most other albums)

^ yeah that's a good album

but in no way pisses on it. calculating infinity eats that for breakfast :)

in terms of miss machine i started listening to it again recently and have really really started to love it. i wasn't massively convinced when it came out, liking some tracks more than others, but i've checked it out again now and i really think it's blinding. even unretrofied ;) people should go back to it again for a fresh perspective. i bet you'll change ur opinion

bullshit rob

bullshit.

take away arctic adventure and Jesus Christ Bobby is PERFECT

Yeah

its fucking sweet, but CMUUUN!!!!

"I SMELL THAT WHORE"

with your username

you shouldnt get these matter of taste things wrong.

...

S/T, Under The Running Board, Calculating Infinity, Irony Is A Dead Scene, Miss Machine & Ire Works, it's all good... Even Plagiarism & there cover of Rebel Yell... :-D

Best ...

Metal album I own anyway.

MM is crap
Ire Works is quite good, was pleasantly surprised.

dont worry.

I dont.

true...

also Variations on a Cocktail Dress is like a recurring nightmare, one of my all time favourites. I like how the songs usually start with a simplified version of the way the song will end, and then in between is a mental build up to that point, genius construction.
