I've been there and played there.

It's a bit late for me to give you the main piece of advice I'd give regarding gigs at the Comedy.

Who's the Promoter?

Have just seen this today, Paul.

What's the advice?
Also, promoter is Dead or Alive, I believe. I didn't set this gig up so am out of the loop.
Please share info, even if via PM!

It's called "The Comedy"?

I thought you were going to ask about standup venues. Where is it?

oxendon street

I've played there and seen bands there.

I like the place. It's low ceilinged and sort of cosy but generally you get a good sound.

The bar is a bit expensive and also fairly mainstream and boring. However, the pub at the bottom of the street, opposite the Odeon, is really quite nice and a good place to have drinks pre-gig.

Due to the licence, they make bands run to their timeslot slavishly so unless you're running a 25min set you better start when you're told: this is to make sure the headline act don't get cut off.

Nicholas who runs Dead or Alive is a nice guy but you'll still have to pull 20 people or something to get paid, I think.

Really? We are headlining!

Our set is pretty much only 30 minutes anyway... Ummm... okay, thanks, Theo.. I've (unbelievably and possibly madly) invited all of my work colleagues as well as the usual close regulars and stuff... so it would be good to get a cabbage home instead of a pumpkin post gig - for a change.

Thanks, Theo for the tips!

Not

a big fan of the place, lacks atmosphere probably better suited to stand up gigs rather than music. If its a full band set up there may be some sound issues too, but that was only cos i was there on an acoustic night and a band headlined and the drums abused my very soul. Contrary to theogb i would say the bar is cheap considering the location, so much so that I sometimes bear the sterile atmosphere once in a while to benefit from a cheap pint while in Leicester square! Hope it goes well!

Really? I don't regularly drink round there

so I couldn't really say if it was comparatively cheap. I just never really found it to be to my liking.

We are electro pop so if you feel the venue

isn't musically friendly for a lot of electro then we will sound pretty shit because there is so much going on. On that note, anyone know the sound guy for Dead or Alive?

Im

sure if you get a good crowd there and fill the place (its only small) it will be a good night!

really

bad sound.

or, you're electro

you might get away with it then.

i hate

this venue.
