Yesterday, news that Chris Martin’s new sprog had been christened made the majority of the world’s news pages. Seems his wild flair for nomenclature has crept into his professional life, Apple, 3, and Moses, 1, now joined by Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, as Coldplay ready their fourth album.
More details of the follow-up to 2005 effort X&Y have emerged today, as Martin comes eager with a tracklisting – which you’ll find below – and RollingStone.com propose a release date of June 17th.
Tracks mentioned in web posts for possible inclusion on Viva la Vida…:
‘Lovers in Japan’
‘Strawberry Swing’
‘Famous Old Painters’
‘Glass of Water’
‘Lost!’
‘Cemeteries of London’
‘Violet Hill’
‘Poppy Fields’
‘42’
‘Yes!’
‘Leftrightleftrightleft’
‘Rainy Day’
‘Prospekt’s March’
These come with the caveat that Martin previously expressed a desire for the Brian Eno/Markus Dravs-recorded, Frida Kahlo-inspired record to be nine tracks long, however, so we’ll have to watch intently to see which ones make the cut, won’t we?

Wait
He has two kids?
i hope
lost! is the string scrape from the screensaver intro to the lost tv programme
That would be fucking awesome.
I thought he'd call the second kid
'Ipod'.
or iPod, but, whatever.
ipOd?
.
I pooed.
well juvenile.
Surely
the headline should begin with "anyone who listens to..."
What a wit I am.
I still think they have the capability to make a brilliant, experimental & interesting album.
I don't think they will do that - they always seem to promise it and then play it safe. But I think they're capable of it.
I Agree,
but the fact they always play it safe is why they are shit.
maybe playing it safe
is the only way they can play it...Surely both of you are just talking about hype?
i maintain
that 'parachutes' is a lovely album
Yes.
^Thirded^
I also happen to like A Rush Of Blood To The Head quite a lot.
X&Y was shite though.
X&Y
was half a really *good* album and half a really *bad* album.
I've happily ignored every backlash since 'Yellow' came out. They're a solid band whos only real crime is spawning lesser imitators.
Not an unfair point
I very rarely listen to their records but they're undeniably entertaining at festivals...
However
Releasing two songs that sounded exactly the same in Clocks and Speed Of Sound didn't do them any favours.
bastards,
i thought they were going to split up?
music for
bedwetters.
original banter.
get some.
