My mum has this CD of awful Christian music she keeps putting on in the kitchen, and as I am home for another two weeks I might go slightly mad if I have to keep hearing this.
So please help me compile a mix for her of songs that are about/at least could be interpreted as being about Jesus etc in a non-derogatory way, that won't make me want to stuff hot cross buns in my ears.
So far all I can think of is The King of Carrot Flowers Pt 2 by Neutral Milk Hotel (I know it isn't really supposed to be about religion as such but my mum won't, will she?) and Glow Jesus Glow by The Cherry Blossoms (though I have a feeling this may be a little unsettling for her).
Jesus...because it is Easter, and that, after all.

Jesus Etc
by Wilco
The second track on
Neutral Milk Hotel is one I would have thought of. I think it is "Jesus Christ! I love you!" Like, "Shit, I love you!" as an exclamation... no?
I read somewhere that it is supposed to be symbolic.
I much prefer your version :D
It was one of the ones she mentioned.
King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 2
Pedant:
That's why I said "...Neutral Milk Hotel is one I would have thought of."

Released a mini-album back in 2004 called 'Jesus Songs' which has a Jesus theme, but the band themselves aren't Christian. Still, they're all pretty good songs.

How about a whole genre
... Gospel music ?
Or if you do classical, Handel's Messiah is pretty bearable.
Or you could always go for "Jesus Christ Superstar" if you're really pushed...
I had the benefit of a religious upbringing so you have my sincere sympathies.
