well, I didn't buy it, but I remember reading about solomon bites the worm by the bluetones or somebody, and hearing that it was mexican influenced, which had me imagining all kinds of brilliance. How disappointed I was when it turned out to be exactly the same as all their other turgid indie tosswankery.

ignoring totally the myth they tried to create about themselves+drugs from day one, the libertines music offends me basically 'cos it doesn't sound ANY different to stuff that was done better 25+ years ago. It's one thing to be influenced by old stuff, but to not bring anything of your own to the party is unforgivable. And I think dohertys lyrics are bollocks.

i saw them at the square in Harlow in June 2002 without having heard them before or knowing they were being 'hyped', McLusky were supporting and were so much better. First Libertines album is very good though
