tiger...

maybe.

SMART WENT CRAZY

End of thread go home.

FLOWERED UP!!

WEEEEEKENDER

The Boo Radleys

Few other bands have ever covered such a wide range of styles, let alone aced every single one. Martin Carr is a genius.

Perhaps...

Prolapse. Or maybe Presidents of the USA.

I'm tempted to go for Prolapse as well.

Italian Flag certainly deserves "lost classic" status. As does Catherine Wheel's "Ferment".

GOD yes

prolapse all the way.

special mention to longpigs.

Remind me please

Were Prolapse like a 90's version of Los Campesinos?

nope

definitely not

they were like a holy union

between arab strap, stereolab and sonic youth.

with other good things thrown in there for good measure.

i know i have some of there early singles

but i cant remember how they sound. Is Huggy Bear a good reference?

Not really

Somewhere inbetween Stereolab, The Fall, Th' Faith Healers, Joy Division, Gang of Four and a host of late 80s scratchy guitar bands.

changed my mind

yeah prolapse, or ac acoustics.

YESSSSSSSSS

THE BOO RADLEYS
without question
end of story

Yes yes

Another vote for The Boo Radleys from this corner.

salad

P.E.E

One band that all the Kinsella kids should check out. Criminally unheard of.

I'd like to add

Karate to this list.

Mansun

:D

hammerhead

or god bullies

Arab On Radar

perhaps?

Lovesick

The Chainsaw Kittens !

i thought not

Geneva

were seriously underrated. two superb LPs.

agreed

album 1's a corker
2's got their best few songs
vastly underated

menswe@r? :)

ah fuck.. thats not even funny...
i sincerely hope they all work in mcdonalds now...

Sadly not...

Their guitarist Simon White now manages Bloc Party and Les Savy Fav.

can't remember his name

but one of menswear worked in "Sherrys" - the quality purveyour of cheap mod knock off stuff off carnaby st for quite a number of years after menswear imploded.

menswe@r were alright

i know simon a bit and he seems like a nice bloke and a great manager.

anyway my vote is for SLEEPER. they really were one of the very best Britpop bands.

No, seriously

breathe deeper, daydreamer.

Didn't one die?

Cap'n Jazz

Should have been like the most successful band of all time. Or something.

jejune

christie front drive
SAMIAM

SAMIAM - YES

lullaby is a great tune.

CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE

STEREO = YES.

I THINK I LOVE YOU.

Of course!

My band rips them off regularily.

YAY!

Samiam!

Also, Jawbreaker

Senser

First album only, mind.

oooh fuck yes

senser were very good.

Senser - Age of Panic (Glastonbury 94')

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4QvZzqCjik

I was there, back when they still had decent line-ups!

I saw Senser in about '92

Totally amazing, so get my vote.

that bird

...she wasnt in the original line up was she??, I first saw them at soton uni early 90's and im sure the chick in the band then was a lot sexier than that.....or id downed my quota of Newcastle brown and the beer goggles were well and truly on,either way they were the fackin bomb

Thinking Fellows Union Local 282

was anyone else a fan of this band?

like a very oddball pavement

Loads of 90s bands

are horrendously underrated. Jacob's Mouse, Boo Radleys, Carter USM, Longpigs, AC Acoustics, Marion... It's always fun meeting people who agree, though, so you can have a nerdy 2 hour conversation about your favourite Longpigs b-side, or the genius of 'Giant Steps', or the aceness of the unexpected drum pause at the start of the second verse of 'Dolphin' by Shed Seven. Which is, incidentally, totally sweet.

Not to mention

the genius of Pop Will Eat Itself or prime Wonder Stuff. Or how good the early Bluetones singles were. Or 'Up To Our Hips', the great lost Charlatans album. Or 'Social Dancing' by BiS.

^ All the above plus Neds Atomic Dustbin

Mega City 4, Senseless Things, The Frank & Walters, Sultans of Ping FC and Leatherface!

AC Acoustics...

great band !

thinking fellers

brilliant band.... even better live than on record i've heard but how on earth could that be when the records were so damn good?

Do you have any of there stuff on digital?

the best albums Lonelyville and Mother of All Saints I only have on vinyl

D:REAM

its true

Shudder To Think

already mentioned, but deserve it twice.

SFA

People will probably disagree, but their first 2 albums Fuzzy Logic and Radiator were fucking awesome, and they were relatively unheard of at the time.

Also, SFAs best album (in my opinion) is MWNG, which is also not a very well known album (nothing to do with the fact that it is all in Welsh of course).

Have to disagree

Every single from both Fuzzy Logic and Radiator, was in the top 40, and im sure radiator was in the top 10 album charts so they were certainly quite well known. Definately not unheard of.

Cable were the most underrated band

A few more

Cows
Sun City Girls
Drive Like Jehu
The Jesus Lizard
Further
Nation Of Ulyses

the dandy warhols

they're album 'come down' is deffo one of the best albums of the nineties !

go buy it !

second that

Sun City Girls and The Jesus Lizard are more relevant now than ever. It's not so much that they were ahead of their time tho', rather wrong-timing.

New Fast Automatic Daffodils

approx 15 years ahead of their time...

deelight

approx 500 million mamillion years ahead of their time...

Buffalo Tom

pretty much ruled the 90's for me, Let Me Come Over is a classic!

Cable

You knows it

Yes

Yes Yes

YEs

Presidents of the United States of America

half the songs are about little frogs rocking out and stuff like that. listened to it with my mate in the car on a long drive the other day and felt 14 again.
u.n.d.e.r.r.a.t.e.d.

and Talk Talk

^ Fucking yes!

Buffalo Tom were fantastic.

Moose

MOOSE!

Oh yes!

Teen Cthulhu

Best. Band. Ever. Underrated, criminally so.

For me

Wildhearts

but I accept that I am alone in that opinion.

'The Drum'

'Diskin' is AMAZING!

no you're not.

also i think dawn of the replicants deserve a mention

so true !

The Wildhearts

are still going and every bit as good. Rammed out the Astoria at Christmas with people who didn't just cheer for the old stuff.

I was there!

They're still phenomenal live, prob my favourite live band of all time.

Ginger's living with my bandmate's old drummer in New York at the moment. The 15 yr old fanboy in me is well chuffed at the tenuous connenction!

Huggy Bear

always.

Porno for Pyros

archers of loaf
buffalo tom

the divine comedy's very early stuff

i.e. before Casanova. No-one bought it, but it was the best material they released by a long way.

it is

Magoo.

It is

Bivouac

World Of Twist

their LP Quality St has some brill pop moments.

SYMPOSIUM

end of...

^ seconded

As someone says ^ up there

There were LOADS. I'll put a vote in for Salad.

echobelly

Nirvana.

Man, NO ONE liked those guys. They were nowhere. And now everyone's getting into them. Madness!

:D

Remember

Ether?! Very under appreciated!
