Just donated $20...
I'd love to see Giant Drag live again, but that looks pretty unlikely at the moment.
Perhaps we could all club together to fund a UK tour...
I know
its all in a good cause but I can't help but be annoyed by the "thinking up the donation thing" as a fan of a band called Marillion.
Totally old school esque prog rock nonsense that would never get attention here but I love em and they've been doing that for about 4 albums now.
*grievance over
It is really annoying.
I'm not even a fan of Marillion and even I'm aware that they've been doing it forever. Einsturzende Neubauten have been doing supporter-funded albums for most of this decade.
How stupid can someone be to be like 'oh, i have an idea!!!!1111' now. I mean, who isn't doing that now?
why is this hppening?
because
GD no longer have a record label and they can't afford to fund a new album themselves
ahhhh
buy a four track
record
if they thought the songs were good enough they wouldnt try to rip off their fans?
they were pretty much
my favourite band of 2005.
i'm pretty sad about this.
*donates*
I don't get it...
...Can't they just be independent and work a job, take money form that job and then go to an affordable studio to record it? You know, like most other indpendent acts do?!
What makes them so special that they have to get their fans to pay for them to record?
*from
and basically, I know it's voluntary but I don't understand why it's even an option that the fans can donate... Surely it's way more admirable if they just did it themselves?
I think they're taking advantage of their fans to some degree...
It's not that bad an idea
if it makes people see the situations some bands ( even some who get press and some success ) can fast find themselves these days.
Asking the fans sure helped Sing-Sing to release their second ( and last ) album.
Awww... Poor them...
...
so hard done too
it hardly costs a million pounds to record in an independent studio.
they have enough fans for it to be a success. seems weird.
lets be honest
nobody likes them anymore after that deftones thing. haha.
I forgot about that
I think I'll put the old cheque book back in the pocket
Yeah...
I fucking hated that too...
The Giant Drag album only had 2 good songs on it as well.
This will be the final straw for me!
