They were great, although you couldn't hear the string section for shit. And their bass player has a funny name, I think it's Roberta Riff or something...
However, did anyone else think it was a little bit odd that Eddie Argos didn't once comment on the fact that they had just 'parted company' with their record company?
For a man so obsessed with pop music and all that goes with it I thought EMI would at least get a mention in passing...
i have loved them longtime, but dear god, when did they get so tight? i suppose this is what happens when you don't see a band play for a year and a half. they were always good but kind of shambolic before. eddie is the same as he ever was [just as well really], but the rest of them have gotten REALLY tight. it's a great combination. i was dead pleased last night. yay. well done them.
i had a similar moment
when i first saw them live at the end of 06. go us?
I saw them last month at the ULU

Freddie Feedback
It's not the most dignified stage name you've ever heard, is it?
No, not really
I recognise her from somwhere, was she in another band before Art Brut?
*somewhere
Really? She wears more eye makeup than Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner
She's funny, though. I like how she sings along to every song like mad.
She looks possessed
But for some reason I can't take my eyes off her. Isn't she going out with Eddie Argos?
Is she?
Last I heard he was engaged to one of the Chalets.
No they broke up
And so did The Chalets, sadly. Shame, I loved that band, and Eddie and Paula seemed like a very good couple.
no
Eddie has a lady in America.
no
i don't think she'd even picked up a bass before joining the band.
probably
because you had listened to them
hush
if you want to be negative go to a foals thread
man
that was the best gig i've been to so far in 2008 (of about 30 or so gigs already). it was seriously, seriously FUN. where were you standing?
eddie argos is pretty amazing.
i was middle middle next to the 2 really tall guys
eddie argos is amazing
Anyone going to see Glam Chops
(formerly Paranoid Dog Bark) in Herne Hill tonight? I'll be there...
I was there
it was totally ace! Eddie bumped into me as I was coming out of the ladies toilets (his mistake) before the encore. he was sweetly apologetic.
i used to see them SO often
loved them so much. havent really heard the "new" album. more fool me.
me neither
but the tracks they played from it yesterday sounded great.
how was the dananananaykroyd gig?
so, so, so fucking good
as always
New song
Art Brut VS Satan is an instant classic. That gig made me so happy!
this^
I have a bootleg of it from a gig on the Feb tour
It's still tagged as Lesson Learnt though. Should I up it?
I really like the new album.
It's different from the first one obviously, but still seriously good fun.
because no one listens to ME.
Only dogs can hear you...
Does he still do
the same Jaz-Z speech?
It made me laugh a lot first time round but got a bit tired after the third time.
*Jay-Z
I'm so not down with the kids.
"And I said to my friend Jay-Z, 'Jay-Z, you're a little bit mysogynistic, but you do have a point...
They were excellent in the Mean Fiddler a few years back.
But their second album is a bit shit.
it not a little bit shit
It's a little bit complicated.
I was right in front, in the ditch. He touched my shoulder during one of the songs.
Great, fun gig, though Eddie's vocals were a bit off. The guest spot from the guy from We are Scientists on 'Bang Bang Rock and Roll'.
Official Secrets Act were also good.
there was also the cutest blond girl to the left of me a few people back. Wish i had the guts to talk to her. Oh well...
i think i saw you
dancing like you were on a cocktail of pills. good stuff.
i think i know the girl you're speaking about. i'd let her spend a night with me.
hey
Quite possibly. I'm teetotoal as well.
Art Brut is my drug of choice.
hahaha
they should use that.
i don't know what you mean about eddie's vocals being off by the way, they seemed fine to me. what was wrong with them?
i just had problem making some of it out
And i was right in front! He was mumbling a little as well. I knew all the songs anyway, so i didn't care...
well
the sound at the front is hardly ever brilliant. i guess if you were standing next to the sound desk it might have been more agreeable.
Because you are silly.
They are clearly the best band in Britain, tied with Radiohead.
I know everyone will disagree.
probably best live band
from my one experience of them, last night.
How many girls have The Courteeners seen naked?
Yep - they were excellent (as usual).
However, did anyone else think it was a little bit odd that Eddie Argos didn't once comment on the fact that they had just 'parted company' with their record company?
For a man so obsessed with pop music and all that goes with it I thought EMI would at least get a mention in passing...
They are fabulous live
I've seen them 3 times now, and they just get better.
they were shockingly good last night
i have loved them longtime, but dear god, when did they get so tight? i suppose this is what happens when you don't see a band play for a year and a half. they were always good but kind of shambolic before. eddie is the same as he ever was [just as well really], but the rest of them have gotten REALLY tight. it's a great combination. i was dead pleased last night. yay. well done them.
they were fantastically tight
i was always under the impression the band couldn't really play their instruments to be honest, but they were great.
has the drummer always played whilst standing up?
yep
