It seems lots of french music is making its way across the english channel. musicians/artists originating from France are totally on the up over here: mighty "teenagers", another new female solo artist "socko", parisian loved up cool couple "john and jehn", amazingartist "Camille",
"Phoenix"...there must be something in the air - right?
SoKo is absolutely awful...
A lot of much better french bands/artists are more deserving than her ( or the Teenagers or Camille ) to get some recognition in the UK...
Ed Banger
word
try..
papier tigre.
fucking awesome band
Le Club Des Chats
Oooooh yeah
SoKo is absolutely awful...
yeh, I partly agree. But Camille - man her album, no instruments except her voice...the noices that come from there are amazing. John & Jehn, kills esque are new artists I'm looking forward to hearing more from. Ed Banger, yep.
Words can not express
how angry SoKo makes me feel. She's not even comedically bad. Her so-called music just makes me want to go on a killing spree.
'I'll kill her' is the fucking worst song I've ever heard.
Eurgh.
Just...
and The Teenagers are rubbish too.
teenagers
are pretty sweet...their tunes are funny
TTC

'69' are a quality french band

a little bit retro here, but the band Magma are perhaps the greatest French band of all time.
Naive New Beaters

Really nice stuff, quite twee, and came over and recorded their album in Cardiff for some reason.
Prohibited Records!
Don Nino (who include members of Herman Dune in their touring band), Berg Sans Nipple...
I saw Pneu last weekend
They aren't really coming over like you're talking about but they did, technically, come over. And they were awesome.
for that matter...
... traditionally speaking French music has Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg and the wonderful Jacques Brel (who Beirut covered when they played in Paris!)
Yelle ftw!
She's really heavily pushed
( with no real success ) by her label here...
The proof that's she's a comedy act is that she got her only real hit with 'parle à ma main' by comedian Micheal Youn under the name Fatal Bazooka...
