They're shit, aren't they?

Zapsta | 01 Mar '08, 00:14 | Send note | Report this | Reply

how many threads and news stories have there been today

about VW?

A good thing i reckon they're ace. It's not music thats going to change the world or anything sure, though I maybe bored of them soon at this rate.

They're brilliant.

Get the album.
Listen to it 25 times.
Agree with me.

^

^^

no

just distinctly average.

-

They're good on record, but if you're referring to the Hools Holland performance then yeah, that was piss poor. I've seen school bands better than that.

1) the album is really really good

2) that performance on Jools Holland was crap
3) give them a chance

they sound english

they're not english.
ergo. ITS SHITE. yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!

they don't sound english

they sound interesting!

Neither good or bad,

just plain old boring.

they are terrible!

i came on here specifically to see if there was a thread discussing their performance. the singer has such an annoying voice and the bassist might as well not be playing cos fuck me if i can hear it making any difference whatsoever. there is no substance, its all twee and bollocks. christ. iv probably had one too many a whisky sour but blimey im annoyed that a band like that can play on jools.

wasn't that bad

yeah, bass should have been louder, and the singers vocal inflections seem a bit irritating live.

Will hold back judgement till i see them live myself.

well do let me know what you think

because i'm certainly NOT going to see them live

^ this

i don't get what all the fuss is about either

I wish Yeasayer got some of their hype

they're so so much better that it hurts.

I just got the MGMT album on promo as well. Couple of killer tracks on that...

yeasayer

are boring compared to VW

nah

Yeasayer are much better than VW, that's not to say VW aren't good though

yeasayer got loads of hype

didn't they?

neither do I

They're not THAT good..

just average

Correct

pretty ok....

but Born Ruffians are kinda similar and much much better than VW

Yes

Just rubbish. Completely dull, the greyest of greys.

theyre ok

obviously

they have pop hooks. I confess to walking along humming that guitar riff and then going "hey hey hey hey"

but they're literally shit. They fit wayyyyy too perfectly into the current fashion music scene. Makes them look horrible.

They're performance of Jools last night was weak.

People saying that they're "terrible... oh i'm outraged!" is pretty much hilarious

Yes, they're getting hype
Yes, it's not all deserved
Yes, they are still really not that bad
Yes, they are also not that brilliant either, but have a few good songs.

Get over yrselves.

why is that hilarious?

so what? we are just expressing our opinions

well if i may speak for myself

inebriation prompted my little rant, but i still stand by it.

i dont think we need to get over ourselves though. anyway, i will say no more.

Very shit

yeah!

they're the first band in years that i've got excited about and are getting exposure!

.

a thousand 6th college bands around the country... maybe the album is better though

Yeah but the drummers on that A-punk video are hilarious.

I could watch them two banging those drums for the rest of my life and never be less entertained by it than I was the first time I ever saw it.

i like them

catchy songs, something different. middle class university rock has a bizarre effect on me.

they arent excellent

but theyre pleasant
i like pleasant a lot.

Yes they are.

Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only one!

Yes they are shit, that is...

I need to be less impulsive with my replying. They are shit live and they are annoying unlive.

errr...

any reason behind them being 'shit'?

Probably the fact that they can't write songs

They have unhelpful influences. The guy's voice is annoying. I dunno, I'm just riffing here.

they sound

like Paul Simon circa Graceland. Enough said.

they sound

like lemonade on a sunny day. which can be nice.

They sound like

a dripping tap when you need the toilet.

i agree.

(to the lemonade)

FINALLY!!

a backlash again VW was bound to happen.

probably undeserved, but bound to take place anyway.

I didn't like their current single when I heard it on the radio,

and am the first to admit that I sometimes sniff at things solely for the fact that they're being spoken about.

But really, the album is wonderful. I'm pretty enamoured with it. And 'M79' is too lovely-sounding for words.

I think

those guys are geniuses. It definitely takes a few listens of the LP though. all the way through. focused listens.

nah, I liked from the first listen

and now I'm pretty sick of it

Well,

that's usually how it happens with me and music. It takes a while for me to appreciate it. It took me until recently to finally appreciate Z for what it is, but now it's one of my very favorite records.

I'm like that also

with lots of other music. But it just didn't happen with Vampire Weekend. well, my loss really.

No.

I think they're fantastic

and their album is one of the best debuts I've heard for a while. I also thought they were pretty good on Jools Holland.

Cheers.

I think they're alright

and nothing more.
