Just been flicking through my records to look for ideas for packaging and realised i have some stuff i totally forgot about (a copy of the first Coldplay album straight from the mastering studio?! and Muse's 'Muscle Museum' EP but i can't find their demoTAPE i reviewed anywhere!!!)

so, this is pretty much the ultimate game of indie points, what you got?

p.s. small but relevant jag, super limited edition (only 300), hand-wrapped EP, with a piece of pringle poster-art now onsale at http://myspace.com/georgepringle

i used to have

a tape made for me by falkous from mclusky, had accoustic versions of songs on it, including "the difference between..." and this was like... 2002?

i left it in thesoundofbastards mums car, never seen it again...

Probably

Desert Sessions Vol. 1

not much really

Five Minutes With vinyl- Arctic Monkeys
Tunnels vinyl - Arcade Fire

are probably the most prized.

Suicide Alley by the Manics

is long gone now, for £500 cash.

According to Record Collector the most desirable item is Stereolab's No Doubt 10"

all lights

fucked on the hairy amp drooling

Damn you!

I'd just finished typing out a post to this effect when I saw this down here.

Still, that makes both of us quite lucky, eh? ;-)

i reckon

it was absolutely amazing.. but godspeed destroyed all the copies, just because they could:-(

Naaah

it was probably just some really crappy noise punk thing.

I had a few copies of

the Foals debut vinyl and a copy of what a waster by the libs buit sold them all on ebay. Dollar talks my collection walks

The Mars Volta - DITC fully signed (prized)

and if anyone cared about them anymore i'd be impressed that i had a 1 of 5,000 Slipknot S/T picture discs (with original tracklisting before they were forced to change it for legal reasons) fully signed.

I should have sold that bad boy when Iowa came out and made myself some cash.

blurs ..

theres no other way 12" remix .. and popscene on 12" ... had a few real great radiohead cds, japan imports and stuff, ex girlfriend took them with a dart.. nice girl really. :(

I have a copy of the first ever Kills demo

from when they were briefly called Sonic States of America. And I have at least some of Meanwhile, back in Communist Russia...'s master tapes. Neither of those are particularly impressive.

i'm impressed by the latter. loved (and i think managed for a week) that band

did ollie leave them somewhere when he was drunk?

it's more that

I was the record label for their first album (and then didn't have enough money to release the second).

Funnily enough though, I am missing some master tapes because Ollie "borrowed" them and never gave them back. More fool me for not copying them first.

Has someone hacked Sean's account?

I've never seen so many threads started by him!

I don't think I have any collectibles :(

i'm just strangely inquisitive today

and having a bit of a musical mission

good!

I like it when DiS staff get involved with the boards.

Original 7 inch of 'a forest', 'love will tear us apart' in 7inch.

Oh - 'Albatross' on vinyl, for eating expensive supermarket food to..

Just a couple of quid?

The way oil prices are at the moment the vinyl alone is probably worth more than that.

i have

a signed copy of pablo honey from it's day of release when they did an in-store signing at our price! they had played at the venue (now academy) the saturday before. ah memories.

well, signed by all except for colin the lazy fuck. he never turned up, pretty much like he never turned up to dj in crazy horse at atp!

even though I don't like Pablo Honey

that's still pretty damn impressive.

aye, not bad

also more demos, including the 1st youthmovies one (fucking ace) and some Elizabeth / Edmund Fitzgerald (even more fucking ace!)

I never got any Foals demos though :-(

also

angel range and union demos!

I have all of the Weezer CD singles from Blue and Pinkerton

I also have a signed promo copy of PWEI's Dos Dedos Mis Amigos and a copy of Bleed American signed by Jim Adkins

I have the early Muse and Cooper Temple Clause EPs

I think they may be declining in value now though. And they don't have much sentimental value anymore.

I have a poster

from the Maximo Park 'Coast Is Always Changing' single launch which is like a weird Jackson Pollock thing their artist mate did with their old logo in roller print, done on brown parcel paper, with the date and venue of the gig written on it and signed by the band. They said they were 'selling it to the highest bidder' so I stole it off the wall and ran off.

There's only two of them and my mate has the other.

I'm so glad I kicked this habit before i started earning

I was well pleased with some of my japanese/promo/etc discs when i was 16/17, but for some reason I kinda stopped caring.

I think I'd be more inclined to find rare records that had good b-sides or live songs, or something that made them different to other versions of albums/singles other than just being green/different font/whatever.

An exception to that would be early EPs of bands and stuff if I'd got it when it first came out, but I'd have little interest in paying big bucks retrospectively.

Hmmm

Mono misprint of Hard Day's night.

Signed QOTSA gear.

It used to be

Queen Of The Troubled Teens 7", back when Idlewild were still my favourite band.

this one

got an original my vitriol ORG single

I have a copy of

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones album 'Awfully Quiet' signed by the entire band.

Oh yeah, and collectible would be my signed Hot Snakes poster <3.

I've got a signed 7"

of the 22-20s debut single. It's probably worth about 50p.

Doesn't Lyle have the Coldplay Safety EP?

Yours is signed?

Mine isn't. I remember when I bought that thinking something like 'WOW! Only about ten people in the world own this!!!11!!'.

Unfortunately, even less than ten people actually care.

I got them to sign it after a gig.

This was the week they were NME single of the week, which hailed it as the best debut 'since the Gallaghers' or something similar. I got them to sign it and thought 'this time next year, Rodney...'

Most prized:

Fully signed Cooper Temple Clause Hardware/Warfare EP where Didz has basically drawn all over it

Plus all of their earliest stuff on vinyl, minus the Crayon Demos.

Precious to me (but probably no-one else)

3) Delusions of Candour by the Starchildren - white vinyl 7" of a Smashing Pumpkins side project, limited to 1000 copies, but I think the white vinyl was limited to a run of 200.

2) You Made Me Realise by My Bloody Valentine - hunted years and years for the original 7" release of one of the best singles ever made - limited to 1000 copies.

1) Forever Since Breakfast by Guided By Voices - sealed 12" of their debut EP release - signed by Robert Pollard's own fair hand. Like a total twunt I managed to put a massive scratch on it playing it whilst blind drunk. It's probably worthless now but I'd never sell it anyway.

*dribbles*

Starchildren vinyl...very jealous.

either my

thurston moore root album (in a hoover bag!) hehe i love that cd, or maybe my signed 1st foo fighters album. also i have number 0004 of muse origin of symatry ltd edition cd.
i think the top prize of mine has to be my mogwai demo tape, its like a crappy home made job done ona computer with contact numbers on it and stuff.

i quite like

my los campesinos hold on now youngster demo.

Crooklyn Clan

2 minute bangers.

Had it on order for about 4 years and it came in, so I kind of had to get it. It is the funniest thing you have ever heard...

um

collection wise, i used to have every Muse CD single from Uno to Time Is Running Out, but I'm in the process of selling them on eBay.

ltd edition wise, i have a Chris T-T CDR that was ltd to ~15 copies, with some demos from 1994-1996 on it. mostly unreleased songs. apparently they were mostly given out to friends, i won it on a mailing list competition.

Grandmaster Flash

The message original 12". Also Led Zepplin 3 (The one with the spinning picture disc on the front)

Dollar

Neanderthal - Fighting Music 7"
Deadline - demo lp

both worth a whole bunch if you know what's up.

Original pressing

Of Rory Gallagher’s LIVE IN EUROPE (1972) given to us by the man himself. This is something I will never sell, although it’s not mine to sell anyway it’s my mums, I have kind of taken ownership of it.

i have

a copy of brmc's demo cd - which i should have really sold a few years back when they were going for £400.

Off the top of my head

She's So High 7"/There's No Other Way 12" and CD/Popscene 12" and CD. Few of the rarer Doves singles on vinyl too, although can't remember which ones offhand.

Probably

My Bloody Valentine - Geek 12" or
The Darling Buds - If I Said / Just To Be Seen 7" or
The Jesus And Mary Chain - Upside Down / Vegetable Man 7"

Doves

I have the original Cedar EP 10" which I think was their debut release? Sadly I don't think they're worth loads these days...
Trying to think what else I have, sure there are plenty. Of more recent stuff, Arctic Monkeys 5 Minutes CD and 7" spring to mind, along with the Death Ramps 7".

LOVE Popscene

Got that on CD too.

first qotsa album on red translucent vinyl

one of 2000 copies or something. not really worth that much i dont think, but i still like it a lot.

all of mystery jets' properly released singles, but not some of the promo-y stuff, irritatingly

7" vinyl...

Stone Roses - Sally Cinnamon 1989
The Jennifers e.p. (who became Supergrass)
Hallelujah/Manchester Rave On 7" - Happy Mondays

Also

Also got bootleg of Coldplay live at Glastonbury in the afternoon, before first album. Chris Martin says "this time next year this song will be a big hit" before playing Trouble. heh.

AND...

All radiohead singles except Drill e.p.
Pop Is Dead, Original Creep, Anyone Can Play Guitar.. etc

Finally...

My dad has original Japanese copy of Seargeant Pepper, bought in Hong Kong in 1970. sweeeeeeeetah!

i've got 6 copies

of Blur's uber rare 'Don't Bomb When You're The Bomb' 7" which I never got round to selling on ebay

not rare at all

but my in rainbows discbox is my prized possession :)

Big plastic collector

I am a bit of a collector so I have quite a few things that I cheris, off the top of my head though the ones that are standing out are.

Halo One - Nine Inch Nails, 12" still in heat shrink wrap, mint.

There Is No Love Between Us Anymore - Pop Will Eat Itself 12"

Loud Love - Soundgarden 12"

First ever Biffy Clyro 7"

Loveless - My Bloody Valentine 12"

I brought 1 copie of it

and sold it to a chap in france for £40!

aye

me too.

i did get a postcard from parlaphone plugging the drill ep though, i just never bought it! :-(

That QOTSA

LP on red vinyl would fetch a few quid I reckon, long as it ain't a boot.

No mention of the red one though

I'm watching one in ebay for a far more modest £10!

indeed

i paid £15 for it in a shop that's generally over priced. it was certainly worth that much to me.

Beatles White Album

First pressing with a lovely signed photo of Ringo.. found in the back of record shop in Stirling 10 years back and bought for £1.50.. bastard wrote the price on the sleeve in ink though..

Got some Kinks singles, and some early manics 7 inches (you love us, Motorcycle Emptiness, New Art Riot)

Probably worth duck all due to the amount they have been played!

Not sure if these are worth that much but...

Rocket/Take your turn - Arab Strap
Add n to x promo - black regent
Saw earlier what a waster on vinyl - I've got that, didn't realise worth anything so if anyone knows what's worth may sell (Got all cd singles by libs and babyshambles in all formats upto delivery)
Beta Band - Sequeniser/To you Alone
Fall - Totales turns / Cruisers Creek vinyl
Got Pet Shops Boys Vinyl Please in mint condition for 50p!
Joy Diviosion love will tear us apart 12'', unknown pleasures and peel sessions vinyl
Sally Cinammon cd single (is this worth anything cos
Got kicks like a mule for 25p at car boot

I also

have one of those Coldplay post-production promos, but signed and also a copy of Mince Spies which is the CD that came with the short lived official fanzine.

A beautiful promo for Cast Of Thousands which comes in a DVD sized case with the CD and a DVD of the whole album set filmed shots.

A similar beautiful promo for Night On My Side by Gemma Hayes and the 4:35am EP which I love despite whether it's rare or not.

Nothing worth a huge amount but

these are some of the most prized by me;

Led Zeppelin 4 on Lilac vinyl
The Smiths 'William it was Realy Nothing' 12" on red 'splatter' vinyl
The Smiths 'Shoplifters..' on green 'splatter' vinyl
promo clear vinyl copy of In Utero
Tweaker '2am Wake-up Call' CD signed by Chris Vrenna
De-Loused on double silver vinyl
Tool 'Lateralus' double vinyl picture disc
Isis 'In The Absence Of Truth' double red/white vinyl

waayy

my dad has the Led Zep 4 lilac edition too

that record i'd probaly never sell, too many good memories of air-guitaring along at age 7/8 with my best mate

Player (Amon Tobin) - Angel Of Theft

Blood red etched 12" vinyl drill & bass mash up of Slayer's Angel Of Death/Reigning Blood. Limited to 666 copies.

Aereogramme Glam Cripple EP on 12" signed by the full band.

eeep!

*sheds a tear for the 'Gramme...*

The White Album

first pressing, number 7

The Safety EP by Coldplay

is the thing that would sell for the highest.
I have a few things that are more limited but that would interest no one...

Erm...

I have The Walk by The Cure on 7" with it's picture sleeve. I bought it for £2 and it's worth about £30 I think.

I Love Acid!

I dont have much in the way of indie collectibles but I have a bit of a random selection of Acid House and techno white labels. Not to many though.

Flight Of The Wounded Locust

by the Locust on 4 X 7", but each 7" is shaped as a jigsaw piece and they all fit together. Not many made, plus it looks really nice.

Never listen to it though.

white label

of radiohead drill ep, and one sided promo (warped) of popscene. I try not to look at how much they are worth.

Also Pavement flexidisc with my first mine- the first available recording of pavement in the uk

Yeah I've got that Pavement flexi

too. It came with a magazine. May have been Spiral Scratch?

unfortunately nothing too valuable

all under a £100 at least.
