so annoying, faux-ernest whining. And he's only 21 or something.
Also every track sounds exactly the same with slight variation between the 2 albums. Play riff, moan over the top, end song, repeat.
Seriously I've tried and tried to like Beirut. I love A Hawk and a Hacksaw but try as I might it just feels like the emperor's new clothes.

i went
through a rather large beirut phase when the first album came out, as well as managing to see the secret peformance on embankment last summer which was rather pleasant...overall they are enjoyable but i think i listened to them a little bit too much
plus i remember reading an article about him taking compositions from a number of different countrys compositions of traditional folk songs and whatever and just mashing them all together, irrespective of cultural and national difference which for some reason made me think beirut was abit hollow and not as good as i first thought

I don't have time for them
I think they do write good songs, they have a special sound, but I have no intention of ever listening to them at any moment of the day. They're tiresome, dull and a bit whiny. I enjoyed their EP with 'Carousel' on it, but only a fortnight flirt. There are handfuls of much more interesting bands around.
