you missed out Why?
i want to go SO MUCH. i think i should. maybe.
I don't really like Why?
sorry. His voice irritates me. I also really want to go.
i am
thinking about it, need to wait a little while to see what becomes of my unemployment before i decide though.
id like to go, last year was awesome.
Me
Tickets and hostel booked and everything :D
I might!
I went last year and it was fantastic. Dancing as the sun comes up over (I guess over) the sea was very cool.
It's just a matter of convincing people to go again this year. Either this or Roskilde anyway. Or maybe Dour if it isn't just a huge duststorm (anyone been?).
Also, Trad Gras Och Stenar would be brilliant in the middle of the night.
Om with a different drummer will be odd.
I'm really tempted
I just need to find out if my university course has finished by that point (fingers crossed that it has). Where do people stay? Can you camp? Is the site right in Barcelona, or do you travel out to it? I'm trying to ask all the noob questions in one go :(
stay in a hostel/hotel/appartment
depending on what you want, aint any camping.
the site isnt right in the centre, but its still within the city. you can get the underground or bus to the site during the day, doesnt take long. there are buses back at night (or indeed a taxis which are easy enough).
Aye
there's no problem getting back to your apartment/whatever from the site which is right next to the coast. It's on the edge of the city:
http://www.travel2music.com/images/news/NEWS/primavera_fest/Parc_del_forum_barcelona.jpg
It's maybe around 10-15 minutes away from the Ramblas by bus (of which there are many during the night). Something like that. I can't really remember :(
i was convinced to walk back into
town one of the nights :(
We walked there on the first day
all the way along the coast. Bad idea. It looks a lot closer than it actually is!
'we just have to go to the other end of this road'
:( i had sobered up 'a bit' by the time we got home.
it does look a lot closer than it is!
Good stuff
thanks for the info guys. I hope so much I can get to this, Clipse Ellen Allien and Pissed Jeans! Amazing
Definitely going
Last year I managed to stick it out till the metro opened every night... can't really recommend it tho.
Dour is good
I went last year, it was beautiful and wasnt dusty. Quite badly organised, but chaotically fun at the same time (unless your tent gets robbed). Plus there's an amazing magical lake to swim in when you get too hot/need to wash...
Saying that I might go to Primavera instead...
I heard bad things about the magic lake
but not having to sneeze out black stuff for days afterwards sounds good. Plus the tickets are cheaper and the lineup seems to be insanely good every year. Hmm.
exciting picture of the ATP stage
with sea in the background:

Lavly.
ATP stage was by far the best, last year..
btw bring a jumper it gets surprisingly chilly at night.
I was sat on that bank
watching Black Lips too.
I am nearly in that picture.
me too!
and i got on the same plane as you out there... spooky.
HOPEFULLY!
Im trying to get everything organised soon. Some of my friends are going to roskilde and although the line up is immense it's pretty expensive (almost 170 pounds). The only reason my friends are going is because they might be getting in free by selling ice creams!
I've been to dour two years running now but thought it wasn't that great last year with the hectic orgnaisation and the line up was better 2 years ago! I thought I'd try something new this year and party in sunny sunny spain :)
in the process
of sorting out my tickets now, woo!
stuff on the fest board
still shows up over there ;-)
I am going.
Nice apartment is all booked and everything. I'm so stupendously excited.
HOW LONG HAVE...
YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS BEEN BACK!!?!?!???!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!!!
i want to go so much
but i have exams. :´(
I'm going
and that was just on the strength of Edan and Les Savy Fav playing. Now that they've released these new additions I am wetting my pants in anticipation. That and I get to spend a week in Barcelona to boot.
I'm booking my ticket end of the month
I have to see Throbbing Gristle, and every other amazing band that's on the bill.
Yep, myself plus 5
others, flights, tickets and hotel in the bag. Can't bloody wait.
Just out of curiousity...
how much did everything cost you in total? Flights, tickets etc...tell me to bugger off if I'm being nosy...
about £400
last year.but that included a really rather lovely apartment.can be done cheap if you stay in a hostel and smuggle your own drink in
If you want to save some cash, stick to straight spirits
Beer's pretty steep (and rubbish) but if it's the same as previous years the bar staff will pour you a full cup of whisky for 4 euros or something. Last year people were giving away bottles of lemon flavoured water that went down a treat as a mixer too.
What's security and that
like? I'm wondering if we're in hip flask territory.
They check bags
But hip flasks should be fine.
Yay!
I'll hide it in my bum cheeks.
I was looking
in to this yesterday. Was so tempted... However the STEEP STEEP cost of flying over there put me off.. :-(
this place is really good for apartments
http://www.apartmentsramblas.com/apartments-barcelona
we stayed in this one last year
dead near everything and worked out about 150 euros each

Are yr gonna book
this one again Mr. Bee?

taylor as so far it just looks like its me,you and eddie.so if you can think of anyone else.otherwise we could get a 3 berth apartment.enless anyone on here wants to book with us
this one looks okay though

is it that expensive to fly?
i got return flights from edinburgh for about £90 last year, didnt seem so bad?
I am off to this
Booked everything yesterday.
I want to go to this so much
I'm waiting on a friend getting back to me about accommodation before I can do anything about it though. Are you flying from Liverpool to Barcelona?
Nah its way
too expensive flying from Liverpool so I am flying from Stansted. I am just going to get the train/megabus down to London the night before the flight and stay at my girlfriends.
I looked at the Easyjet site
and I agree its too expensive to fly from Liverpool, which is frustrating. According to the site you can get return flights for around £50 from London airports, so I'll probably end up doing that.
Traveling to London is
cheap so it makes sense to do it that way. I am going on the 28th May but coming back on the 2nd June it cost me £80.
Yep, its a plan
Now to find somewhere to stay. And to buy a ticket. And to check whether my course has finished by that point.
My flight was £80.00 on
Easyjet, return from Gatwick. I booked this before Xmas though so I guess it's increased quite a bit now?
I got flights
for £55 a couple of weeks ago... It's my birthday on May 29th - hurrah! Try and smuggle in cans of Toro, cheap Spanish red bull equivalent as beer and mixers are a bit over priced. They are very generous with the spirits though..
tempted to go
just need to convince some people that its worth going
i can never remember
which airport is nearer to barcelona
girona
or reus
thats the only places ryanair flys to from liverpool.help
They're both about 100km out of Barcelona I think
Barcelona airport's the close one.
girona
is about a 45 min (very pleasant) bus ride away. Its no hassle. Main airport is easy on the tube, but not really that much quicker. I hear Girona is nice in its own right if you have time to visit there.
This line up is great, but too similar to ATP so not going. My misc european fest slot remains empty...
girona is basically in France...
the main airport is so much quicker, especially if you take a taxi
It's my birthday
on the 29th too, probably gonna make good use of the €1 Jagermeister shots!
sneaking booze in
is easy. Didnt check that hard. You can always take in "water" with the lid off and put lid in your pocket. Failing that, just use the 1 euro tokens but just give the bar the wrong amount. Got away with 3 tokens for 3 beers by the end when they were sposed to be 3 euros each. Just walk off, they were so busy. If I was working the bar I wouldnt give a shit.
Had an inkling MBV might play though. Bit disappointing...
I am going!
Got flights for £32, however they're one way. I am never coming home.
I'm booked
can someone recommend accommodation?
