best band ever? I think so. I only have 3 albums though - The Life Pursuit, Push Barman to Open Old Wounds and If Youre Feeling Sinister. What should i get next?

Get the collection

of singles. It's called Push Barman to open old wounds

something tells me

he might already have that one ;)

sorry

lol

tigermilk

and the boy with the arab strap

tigermilk obviously

they are brilliant.. i went to uni with a few of them and chris gave me one of the 1st pressings of tigermilk i remember being absolutely astounded when i heard it and one by one all of my flatmates coming into my room going "what is this...its amazing!"

I dont think there is another band out there i can relate to so well

best band ever?

i think so. yeah, go either tigermilk or arab strap. you won't be disappointed either way. after those two i'd get dear catastrophe waitress. and then everything else they've ever done.

i can't stop listening to belle & sebastian lately!

they're all great but my favourites are probably the life pursuit & tigermilk. white collar boy just makes me dance every time i hear it!

my ex-boyfriend used to call them bellend & sebastian.

isnt

that punishable by hanging in Scotland?

you would think so wouldn't you?

but actually a lot of people i know from home find them a bit twee. which i used to agree with, but then i gave them a proper chance & realised they're great.

yeah they get a lot of love but a lot of hate too

same with camera obscura.

it's beyond twee

i call it tweecore

you need to get tigermilk

it's easily their best i think.

the first few tracks of the boy with the arab strap are brilliant as well, i think it dips after that though.

i don't think they've ever really done a bad album.

fold your hands isnt great

although there are good songs on it... i also think the boy with the arab strap is weak in places too.... seymour stein and spaceboy are pretty dire

storytelling holds a special place in my heart

as the only album which contains a song which has caused me to scream "MAN THE FUCK UP" at the stereo

Tigermilk

and/or Dear Catastrophe Waitress.

tigermilk it is!

thank you internet people.

Get the rest

of their albums. I don't think they have a bad album. They're probably me favourite band, along with Pulp and Hefner.

The Best Band Ever.

Music and Lyrics have not since the Beatles worked so in harmony.

I also know of men who think they are twee, but I killed them.

They were pretty much

my favourite band ever until the last album where my attention waned a bit. But yes Tigermilk is their best album IMHO

best band ever

Tigermilk and Dear Catastrophe Waitress should be your next stops

nah

Jet innit

most importantly

What they doing now? gigs or album coming up?

they had a break as they had a bit oif a bad live spell around the dates for the last album

they did consider splitting up and have been focusing on solo projects... but i've heard they have been in the studio over christmas so i dunno

certainly one of my favourite bands

i wouldn't go parading around the fact i think they were 'the best ever' after only hearing a couple of albums...

first point of call is definitely Tigermilk, followed by Dear Catastrophe Waitress and The Boy with the Arab Strap. Storytelling is ok.

yes!

get all of the albums! they are all great! i might say they haven't released a bad song, let alone a bad album. certainly one of the best bands EVER!

i dunno

i think you can get the jist of a band after listening to 2 albums and a compilation of ep´s and B sides.

personally i don't think they've done a bad album

but tigermilk is the logical next step, followed by arab strap, then dear catastrophe waitress, then storytelling, then fold your hands.

tigermilk!

it's my favourite... maybe a tie with if you're feeling sinister. although i'm still missing two or three of their albums.

Tigermilk

They're one of my favourite bands.

Is Lazy Line Painter Jane on the singles album?

If not BUY THIS.

Birlliant band.

So many great tunes!

I also think Ballboy are pretty darn good.

fold your hands child

is my favourite actually.
probably more to do with the fact it was the first b&s album i bought and i was an angsty teenager at the time.
'the chalet lines' is just beautiful. despite it's subject matter.

yeah it's a great song

fold your hands is much maligned but it's got about siz or seven great tracks on it.

I really like Fold Your Hands...

I even like Family Tree and I'm surprised Women's Realm isn't more highly thought of. I Fought In A War and The Model are both amazing.

I don't think the band like it very much though. Most people I know who hate it seem to single out nice day for a sulk as particularly awful but it's not like it's a very long song or particularly offensive. Ho hum!
