hullo all,
so, as suggested by many of you and as discussed a month or so ago, we're going to be removing the social board from over there < - - -
but not from the site completely.
the main reason is that we're a music site and that we want peoples first impression of the site to be music related. and also because these boards seem slightly inhibited by being quite so public.
hope you all understand,

You shouldn't believe everything you read...

That could just be a rumour.

grow up

:D

*snigger*

YEAH!

We've been telling him that for ages. Maybe he'll listen to you.

Maybe....

Or maybe I'll instigate a 'farewell' to that bit <------ with some sweary thread title fun.

NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WHY GOD WHY

Could we have a one-click link

to each of the individual boards? I'm right lazy me

yeah

we're redesigning the boards

Grand

Sounds like a good move

Suck up

Man up

you tosser

Yeah thats right

No safety wink this time!

Good point

Let's cuddle

Let's cuddle

Let's fucking cuddle

CUDDLE TIME!!!!

this

is terrible terrible news

last time it was discussed

it got nothing but positives from all the core boarders, in fact i dont think there were any reservations. anyway it's happening in the next hour or so.

pfft

it made sneaky at work social board monitoring so easy as well.

It does make sense obviously.

I mean from a practical point of view I like it as it is now but from a "running a music site" point of view, it is the obvious step to make.

Good stuff.

yes

Gordon Bennett,
founder, this post.

It was meant to be...

Can we now have a monthly french band column ?

Oh jesus...

"...these boards seem slightly inhibited by being quite so public."
It's going to be like the Fall of Rome by lunchtime...

yeh pretty much makes sense

as we read left-to-right it is surely a negative to have comedy threads on the left and reviews on the right.

phew

When I saw the thread title, I thought it meant you were abolishing the social board completely. For a horrible second it looked like I was going to have to get a life. And do some work.

I think this is a good idea, btw.

well

more just a mass upsurge of productivity.

Just had an image of a DiS uprising.

An army of fey indie kids marching against the ills of society.

Wouldn't acheive bugger all.

as much as i'd like to sulk

it's a good idea, really

is there any way that

the social threads can still be on the left when you've viewing a social thread, like now?

the music threads can still be there when you're looking at other parts of the site.

Or have an 'All' option

where we can choose to see all the threads. We've got options to see the most popular threads (which I'd guess is only used occasionally out of curiosity).

That we get the choice and newbies only see music threads. Everyones happy.

oooo

interesting.

Sweepstake on how quickly it comes back? i give it three weeks. :)

of course the power lies with us

i double-dares you to start a favourite type of pie thread in the music forum.

good call.

there seems to be very little musical discussion these days. i log on,look at the topics, go 'meh' and then go somewhere else.

haha

ok that did sound a bit high and mighty of me. but it is a music site after all! anyway i will take your advice..

there's loads of music based discussion

on the music board, innit. and if no-one's talking about what you want to talk about, start a thread yourself. easy!

does this mean DiS will be down

while you sort this? If so can you tell me when so I can aim to do my work in that time slot and spend the rest of the day on here? Thanks.

w*rk

yeah

what was I thinking?

I lost her for 2 hours

last night! When I finally found her she didn't have her harness on anymore, weird.

fair

this shocks me

...

Thank God for that

It has a place, but not on the front page.

seems like an odd move to me

but it's your website..

and by the way

I think it's a good idea.

I support this move.

DiS was losing it's identity. I joined up to discover great new music but all I found was weepy-weepy (many by me) thread about da gurlz.

Man the fuck up!

ahh, it's happened!

tricked me for a few minutes there

i approve

but i fear change

i really like it -

now i don't have to click to the music board to see what's going on etc etc.

Nice one Sean.

I'm hoping it will get me clicking on more of the music threads automatically out of curiosity. Too many of them vanish a bit too quickly and I'm a sloth these days when it comes to music.
:)

^

hopefully

that was one of the main reasons

maybe I'll get

less 0 reply threads...

i never realy look at them anyway

probably a good move o founder.

I thought this was a good idea from the git-go

Cos music is my life, man!

No, seriously. DiS can let the hooligans run loose on the social board, but has to maintain its Music First axiom. For credibility purposes. You can't very well claim to be the first and last word in serious music shit right next to a I'm A Jelly Donut Whore! thread.

Well, maybe you can. I dunno.
