This is inspired by Mirrilondons thread about Clash of the Titans.

Because Clash of the Titans was actually the first film that I saw at a cinema.

What was your first film?

The Jungle Book

when I was five.

^ this

Snap!

But my viewing was in 1968...

mine

was in the 70s sometime!

^ me too!

.

Me too.

Closely followed by Jaws when i was 5.(No idea what my parents were thinking there.) I can also remember going to see some Doug McClure rubber dinosaur movies.

Eerie...

... but that's exactly the same answer as me. Same film, same age.

I don't say Jungle Book any more though: when I was a student I worked at Ritz Video [pre-Blockbuster takeover] when it first came out, and as part of the promotion we had to have it on instore all day every day.

Also, I've just remembered, I played Shere Khan in a stage production.

I tend to say Jaws now, as it's better, and was the NEXT film I saw at the cinema.

Aaargh!

MrSib! Are you me?? I saw Jungle Book on some rerelease in 1975[ish].

Then, after much deliberation, my Mother took me to see Jaws.

And I was well into The Doug McLure movies at the time - my Father used to work for EMI Films at the time, and occasionally took me into work with him. I saw The Land That Time Forgot on a Kem editing machine.

the little mermaid

at greenwich cinema.

my father and i had a heated debate afterwards about whether ariel's dad should have let her go out with the prince, and whether he had any right to smash all her earthly shit up. we never reconciled that argument.

Snow White with my grandparents.

I think. Maybe my crap memory of it is testament to how young I was.

The first one I can remember going to see

is Beethoven (the dog). It was at lunchtime at the crappy old cinema in Sunderland. Also i'm convinced that we sat in normal stacking style chairs to watch it and there was a newsreel on beforehand. That may be made up. Not sure.

Masters of the Universe

is the first I can remember.

power rangers

probably about 6-7

Back To The Future

I have subsequently watched this film 21,649 times (approx).

The Jungle Book

Oooh be doo!

Masters of the Universe

i was four. i remember my mum getting me loads of tic-tacs. i felt a bit of a bad-ass watching a PG at four actually.

I think mine may well have been this too!

I can remember being confused as to which arm rest on the cinema chair was 'mine'.

He-Man!!!

Snowy day at the Odeon in Darlington when I was 4, though nobody believes that I can remember that far back. I came home and drew a ton of He-Man pictures which in retrospect was pretty gay. The next year had the awesome one two of Back to the Future III and Ghostbusters II.

Lion king

Santa Claus: The Movie

I just remember running around a lot and not paying much attention to the film

Mine was Aladdin...

... at a cinema that has now long been demolished.

it must have been Labyrinth.

on the ferry [oldskool] to england. i had to be taken out of the cinema crying, and can't till this day look at david bowies face without feeling sick.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

at a cinema in Holland. Its was cool because it was more like a very dark bar, because all the adults were drinking beer & smoking, plus you sat around little cafe tables instead of usual cinema sofa seats.

Quite sad in a way that the best cinema I'll probably ever go to happened when I was about 7.

Ghostbusters 2

I think...but we had to leave half way though cos the mate I went with was scared and started crying....fuckin wimp!!

empire strikes back.

what a film to start with, it remains my favourite film of all time.

Me too, but I don't remember it.

First I remember was The Lion King.

ugh..

It was a mother and child screening of 'Three Men and a Baby'..

sweet jesus

i cant believe that someone else replied with that

The first I remember is The Lion King

my dad took me and didn't know what to do because I was crying. He wasn't very good at that kind of thing.

this ^

Lion King.
Unbeatable.

the empire strikes back

when i was aout 5 and on holiday in blackpoool

Snow White

when I was about 4. I was so scared of the witch that I cried.

an american tail

fievel made me cry

Tears

Seems that there is a lot of crying on first cinema outings :-(

Super Mario Bros

it was excellent!

Aristocats

I remember enjoying it.

I think it was ET

That's the first i can remember anyway.

it was

Honey I shrunk the kids.

yay!!

moi aussie.

which doesn't mean im australian.

I have never

been to the cinema.

Something like Tom & Jerry The Movie

or Beauty & the Beast

Tom & Jerry was shit by the way.

Hook

I would have been 4 and a half years old.

The half is very important when your that age.

i think

this was mine too

Honey i shrunk the kids..

it was all down hill from there

Lion King

ftw!

Aladdin

I was about 3 or 4.

aladdin

is the earliest one I can remember. They gave us a bazillion stickers afterwards too. Fun times!

The Addams Family

on my 6th birthday.

Masters of the Universe

I think... that's the first I remember anyway. That or the Neverending story, whichever was first.

The first i remember, was

The Rescuers Down Under.

I'm not sure.

It may have been the fox and the hound. I'll have to ask mommie dearest.

Ps

I clearly remember when I was a kid, the whole cinema used to clap in between the certification signature screen and the film. Nobody else seems to remember this at all though - anybody??

I remember that happening.

I remember also everyone clapping at the end of Rocky 4.

yeah i remember that... people would wolf whistle too

i also remembr you could just turn up buy a ticket and walk in even if the film was half way through... then stay in for the next showing

:)

So it wasn't just me going mad. Thank goodness.

I think mine was

Fox and the Hound but it must of been a re-release of it because I was bout 3 or 4 and cried like a girl!

jungle book

the first film i saw without my parents there was liar, liar.

I really can't remember.

I have no idea how I could remember the first time.

The first one I can remember anything about

is 'Mary Poppins'.

The first one I ever saw on my own was 'The Italian Job'.

jurassic park.

and thinking
'wow i need to go there for a holiday'

snap!

it was the only time I ever saw a queue for the cinema in Cannock.

Right round the corner we queued!

possibly the Lion King?

maybe Beauty and the Beast? something Disney, anyway

the lion king

must've been '93 or something?

Basil the great Mouse Detective

in '86, the first non cartoon one was \m/ Masters of the Universe \m/

the rugrats movie when i was 7.

it has a profound meaning on my life to this day.

p.s. i'm kidding.

I don't think it was the VERY first

one that I ever saw...but the first one I remember seeing was 'Who Killed/Framed Roger Rabbit?'

god knows

I wish my parents kept a better babybook for me. Records end at three when I got boring.

Toy Story

God I loved that film, saw it in some cinema in Aylsebury.

1996 it must've been, back when I lived in Aston Clinton.

Hook

Rufio! Rufio! Roo-fee-ooohh!

sleepless in seattle

my mum fell asleep

I think it was Masters Of The Universe

I remember that my Mam wanted me to go and see Snow White And The 7 Dwarves which was on re-release and showing at the same time. But my brothers were going to see Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and I wanted to go with them.

Though I also went to see a re-release of the Jungle Book around the same time I think, so it may well have been that.

That cinema's a block of flats now. Not really a shame, the owner was a bastard who hated children.

side note

seeing people answer 'The Lion King', 'Toy Story', and 'Jurassic Park' is making me feel really old :-(

beauty and the beast

when I was 3

the lion king

and it gave me a really sore throat because i found it so sad

Flinstones Movie

my sister cried because it was too loud. we had to leave. shame.

mine too

and when it ended i cried cos i thought they were going to play it again and they didn't...bastards :

Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.

I totally shit my pants.

Toy Story

At the time: OMG best film ever!!!1!!

I remember being genuinely excited watching that film, and don't really get that feeling any more :(

Little Mermaid

When i was about 6. Havent seen it since.

Chariots of Fire

The second best film ever after The Towering Inferno.

It was either The Aristocats,

or On The Buses:The Movie; "Got you now Butler! - thats made my bleedin day that has!"

The Land Before Time

Petree was my idol

the land before time remains one of my favourite films to this day.

never saw any of the sequels & heard they were all shit but the first one is immensely good.

my best friend is called sarah & if we ever get lost i go "sarah! you're going the wrong way!" and also my brother is called peter which is kind of like peetree so sometimes i go "i flied! i flied!" to him.

needless to say, no one apart from me finds this even remotely funny.

as for my first film at the cinema, can't really remember seeing anything when i was that young (though i must have) but i went to see casper on my 10th birthday. and that also remains one of my favourite films.

Jurassic Park

I loved it.

either

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey or Hook. I can't remember which...

Willow

Is first one can remember

But may have been some disney animation before

Ghostbusters

I had the day off school (infants school btw)

I saw Lady and the Tramp

it was my 7th birthday treat.

and now the cinema is a

Bar Med :(

Ghostbusters

I cried at the big green thing going mad in the library :(

I was 27

It was....

Bambi

It was either Hook

or Little Mermaid. All I can remember is being really excited and watching Byker Grove before we went.
