Glaswegian jerk rockers Dananananaykroyd have spoken to Drowned in Sound about the what and why nots behind the aborted release of recent EP Sissy Hits.
The record is, by all accounts, well worth it – this review and the comments left beneath it the most obvious testimonial, swelling crowds at live shows in their home city and beyond a more fleeting example of the band’s appeal.
So what’s stopping you offering up your product, Dananan?
“Dananananaykroyd have been told by Jealous Records that due to financial restraints on them and also over at their distributors, our forthcoming E.P Sissy Hits won’t be getting released. As you can imagine we are all really disappointed by this, we were really excited about showing it off and getting out on the road for a wee while and playing it hard style.“I can tell you that we are in the process of picking out our route in which to release it, and we promise that you will get AT LEAST an E.P from us in the (hopefully) very near future. If not this E.P then something bigger! We are still confirming our little mini tour that was supposed to support the release of Sissy Hits and we still fully intend to go through with it, so come out and say hi! Thanks for the support and keep yr eyed peeled!

A PS...
...DiS likes Jealous Records. Their output is ace and it's a real shame this can't be part of it.
Mind you, if they get a new label...
This incident could actually work out well for the band in the long-run. The publicity on DiS alone as a result of it in terms of message boards, the review and this news story is sure to raise the band's profile and get more people to check 'em out...
The 10/10 EP "they didn't want you to hear" is a fantastic press angle...
we should start a campaign
to persuade the DiS label to put it out
I'd love to put this out
Alas, alas.
me too
but they'll sign to some big flash label with more bucks instead...
i feel sorry for jealous as it's always gutting to have to shelve release plans when things don't go quite to plan.
we should start a campaign to get NME to talk about the band
and anyway a campaign like 'Free fiona'
it could be 'sign dananananaykroyd'
MySpace Guys
Why don't they just put it up an myspace like Black Kids for free... It's just an EP
just an EP?
just an EP? Sacrilege.
It'd be a lovely vinyl EP though, just imagine!
they're plating my local! yayyyyyyyy
i love the dog and partridge soooooo much right now
iron clad plating
derrr
Oi!
thats my photo! (i think)
I don't think I'm ever going to hear this band...
Was really looking forward to the EP, sounded right up my strasse.
Still, glad it's a case of 'our record label is SO indie it can't afford to release our records!' and not 'our record label are dicks'.
