The battle rages across the country, north or south...but what about you london types do you reside north or south of the river??

Personally south of the river you might as well live in kent. North London forever, NW1 here!

EAST

GERROUDDAA MAH PUB!

(South. I was Wandsworth when a Londoner)

i've lived 3 years south,

3 years west (but north of the river) and am currently living north.

at the moment... i miss the west.

I miss you missing the west

bloodystupidclosedroadsintokingscrossmakingmefuckinglate

Shit wasn't it?

I had to walk. WALK.

You were lucky then!

My bus sat in the exact same spot for 20 minutes because some cunt in a white van pulled out all the way into the middle to the traffic

the west is good...

but i dont think i could take living in chelsea/fulham with all the posh twats

... i lived in shepherds bush.

oh, hello annoying aussie! oh, hello! anotherannoyingaussie. oh, you're a saffa are you? you're annoying too. as is the fact that the whole road smells of sick because of the walkabout.

dammit.

they all have their nice

and nasty parts

but some parts

are easier to escape from than others

Despite Kens ad campaigns

do you think you should be called a Londoner just because you live there and were not born there? This doesn't happen with other regions does it?

It's his plan to make us all feel wanted. Bless him.

I'm not a Londoner, and never will be because I wasn't born there. Just where I live.

Well

its important to integrate and all that bollocks, ive lived here on and off for enough time for it to feel like home and surely thats all that counts.

ken is a cunt tho isnt he

I'll be looking in the South-West in the summer

but have only ever lived in Hackney in London. So in sum, I don't know

So do I.

Hells to the yes!

i tend to avoid crossing the big lake south, grim down south

South West at the moment

But moving to Whitechapel in a few weeks.

North

and anyone who says otherwise is a liar, a fool, or both.

born and bred

North, living East, try to avoid South. Sorry, their was a fourth?

to me?

if so *high five*, if not *fist in the face*! Lived and went to school in Camden (haverstock) and now living in Wapping myself, nice location actually, walkable from Old Street (if you're not lazy) and very peaceful, lovely in the Summer sun.

Obviously

of the river is better.

*

-North. I'm not good at replying.

Is this like

do you want to be killed by falling tower blocks / ridiculous traffic systems

or stabbed repeatedly in the chest

kind of thing?

the towerblocks don't fall over, pocketmouse

but i must say york minster looks a bit fragile - be careful!

People have actually been killed by falling gargoyles

but they always seem to be tourists....

they get demolished and stuff though, and there's far greater scope for destruction.

amazing

I'm from the South West.

Not right in the centre though more like Richmond, Kingston way.

I live in Northamptonshire now, so when I tell people I support Chelsea I have to explain my birthplace. And the fact that I've supported them for 10 years. Otherwise they will asume I'm a glory supporter.

I'm a life long Chelsea fan

because my Dad is and I really never had any say in it, and I've just got into the habit of ignoring anyone who reels out the 'glory hunter' line

i dunno

if i worked centrally, i'd live in south london because it's the one place where there are still central areas that are vaguely cheap.

i'm really happy in K-Town though. i realised this walking around the back streets with all their gorgeous houses on sunday, it's a really nice area.

i've decided that

i want that to be the official name. i might stage a protest or something.

even i'm not that wanky!

there's a new development near kentish town station that's branded as "NW5 - the Tally Ho! quarter". WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!?

Some place where pimps

count their employees?

I love living South of the river

in Lewisham, owing to the Fox, New Cross Inn and Amersham Arms being literally just down the road from where I live.

But it's not about North v. South - if I didn't work in Central London I'd probably feel quite isolated, and whether you travel to Brixton Windmill or the Buffalo Bar on Highbury Corner to see bands you think might give you the horn is by the by - you still have to travel.

Camden can fuck right off, though. You hear me, Camden? Fuck. Right. Off.

Other reasons why Lewisham rules:

Blackheath is 10 minute walk.
Greenwich is 30 minute walk.
It's cheap to live there but in Zone 2 and only 20 minutes to Charing Cross/Victoria on the overland.
The Fox is the best live music venue/pub in London.
I like my house.

I was going to say

The Fox is the best pub in london!

^^

plus montague arms isn't far.

and I like my flat.

but, like

i can walk to places to see bands.

i like living in kentish town because it's close enough to camden to be in walking distance but not so close i get junkies and drunks vomiting on my doorstep :D

But Camden's HORRIBLE.

Really, indefensibly horrible in all manner of unspeakable ways. How anyone can bear to live there is beyond me, it's bad enough having to visit for gigs, flyering or, Christ aloft, shopping.

yes

and, as i said, kentish town is a million times better yet close enough to still get the benefits.

Plus you live there,

and that alone gives me the horn just thinking upon't.

Ohhh

no you are so wrong, a little flat opposite the dublin castle next to regents park right in the thick of it, its an amazing place to live...beats say...the faux trendy nathan barleyites of hoxton etc

no it doesnt

but i agree the streets towards regents park are lovely

But Hoxton

is just appaling, its a bunch of kids living of daddys dolla staying in ex council properties pretending to live the life of famous record producers while eating cold beans. the place depresses me.

i'm in hoxton at this very moment

it isn't like that!

and the bar, cafe, gallery, fashion, art, music, etc etc etc etc scenes are all fun and interesting and great!

I'm N9

born and bred - the place where old people, when catching the bus, say "I'm going to London"

K-town

i live in C-Dog it is nice round here is why im biased to the norf....where i used to live on holloway was slightly depressing, unless you are an arsenal fan, which i certainly am not

NDUBZ

+the other KTown

KTown

Oh I misread that. KTown all the way. KTR and RCS w00t.

Obviously depends which bit

But I love living in the south east. South Bank, Borough Market, etc only a short walk. Can walk to work. Appears to be much safer than my mates places in Camden. Cabs home are cheap. And when 'Europes most expensive regeneration project' happens in Elephant we'll rule the world!

North of the river forever...

If you live south, you slag off the north, but it's oh so funny that you actually travel north to come out to our clubs and bars, eh??? Explain THAT!

the historical centre of london

was and still is north of the thames? ;P

I'm not anti-North,

just anti-Camden. An anti-Uxbridge, but that's because I went to Uni there and it was shit.

Brunel?

Yup!

And how that very name makes me shiver even now...

^^^^^ there

is so much wrong with that!

lock tavern is nice enough

Proud Gallery when it was still open.

Hawley Arms! heheh, not really.

Has the

Proud Gallery closed down?

yes

they're redeveloping Stables Market

Top Shop yay! :(

yup

but its opening again the next month or so

oh really?

good!

South London

is better for me to live in than North London. There are many reasons for this, but the most prominant is that crossing the river to go in and out of central, for work, or going out is just a really nice thing to do. When I cross the river southwards i'm coming home, and it feels nice.

^This^

The River, it cleans me.

Not literally, that would be the equivalent of curing yourself of AIDS by eating a tumour.

Although remember, kids: if you must eat a tumour, please make sure it's cooked right through.

North & South

I've always had the impression that South London is less urban and more suburban, compared to the heavily built up north. And people from there are much less aggressive and more relaxed. North Ldn really sucks but it's home to me

your impression = way wrong.

way, way wrong.

not much

much more greenery and less tower blocks in the sarf - if you don't count Croydon and Lewisham

I could say 'nice' a few more times.

Or expand my vocabulary.

anyway

central is where it's at

^

specifically Beak Street.

Montagu Square ftw!

(three months, a few summers ago. good times)

More specifically, No.49 Beak Street

I haven't been there in 2008 yet :(

SE11 FTW

Firebomb free since May 2006!

All the different bits of London have their pros and cons

it's just that it's cheap to live in Catford (but even then I still don't have any cash). (FYI Catford's in Lewisham)

i prefer north London

but have to live in the south as im too lazy to get up early for work

sapporo ichiban

it's quality.
Also spice of life in Lee does the best curry i've ever tasted.

North-east is best

best transport links plus easy reach of both East End in one direction and Camden/Kentish Town in the other so good for gigs and thing.
The only part of London I don't like is just most of West London because it appears boring and full of poshos. East is so much better.

plus

you get bonus indie cred points for living somewhere a little bit wooo, a little bit waaaaay.

haha

DALSTON ME UP
