As featured on the excellent 20jfg and Gorilla vs Bear.

It really does sound like a Tropicalia version of Person Pitch, which is pretty much my idea of incredible.

You can listen to his whole album on his myspace page.

Oh and he's also in a band called Coconot who are ace too, and pretty Animal Collective-y at that.

Woo! Someone replied!

I haven't made a music thread in ages.
'Antillas' makes me :) so much.

want to find an mp3 version of this for my phone. its good bus journey music

Totally.

I want to listen to it while walking through rainy London.

Theres a few mp3s here
http://hypem.com/search/El%20Guincho/1/
but I need to actually order the album! Does anyone speak Spanish and have a credit card?

keep bumping this please

i'm gonna look tomorrow.

hello.

this is amazing! thanks

if you want it in whatever crappy bitrate myspace do for the meantime, there's always http://www.downloadmyspacemusic.co.uk/

excellent stuff

nice one

Wow.

How have I never seen that site before?
Thanks!

Oh and obviously

that's not his whole album on his myspace. I realised that after I posted it.
Fail.

I like this

but it's almost too Animal Collective-y.

i was thinking this

a bit...

It's similar but

I don't think he (or Coconot) have actually tried to copy AC, to their credit. Alot of this just sounds like the old Tropicalia sound brought up to date, which was always quite psychedelic. I think this inherently sounds quite Animal Collective-y

Panda Bear was also living in Barcelona when he made Person Pitch, so go figure. Or something.

panda bear lived/lives in lisbon no?

but yeah, its pretty good! i shouldnt be so judgemental on a first listen i suppose. i was kinda having that 'this sounds so much like animal collective id rather be listening to them' feeling a bit.

im not so much sure i see the tropicalia thing maybe i need to open my ears though.

oh wait

yeah you're right. I lose.
but yes, it's unarguably very AC-y;

and I'm probably biased

as AC are among my favourite things ever and I probably just like anything that sounds like them.

yeah

one of mine too, im enjoying this more on repeated listens, i dont really know what i was talking about now :)

the coconot stuff seems to sound less like animal collective. the el guincho guy seems to be from the canary islands, cool.

his blog http://discotecaoceano.blogspot.com/
(may be useless unless you speak spanish, hmmm)

Yeah I've been looking at that.

I like that he has a blog article about how he's been in some blogs.

have you heard francois virot?

if we were designating animal collectives to countries, he'd have the french one sorted.
http://www.myspace.com/francoisvirot (my head is blank is my favourite)

That is quite Sung Tongs-y

Nice though.

I'd like to hear an Italian version of Animal Collectives that bursts in to 20 minute long Italo Disco work outs.

Obviously that's what ALL Italian music does. Um, yeah.

:D

all i know of italian music is larsen. by extension i really want to hear a xiu xiu/animal collective collaboration.

Good shout

This is top stuff. I'm going to Spain in a couple of weeks, I'll try to track down a copy of his record(s).

this is ace.

thankyou!

he was great live when we saw him

He played with Fanfarlo in Barcelona in December. Really really fun live!

Yeah

this is pretty great. Been meaning to feature it somehow for a while now, but it's too long gone for review so I'm gonna write it up along with Invisible Conga People and Ecstatic Sunshine in some column thing I'm writing tonight.

Check it for Drownload, yo, or some such shit.

have you heard of Dopo?

they're Portuguese.

This is brilliant

Thanks.

yep, I like this.

Thanks.
