The first and second sets of bands, solo artists, acts have been confirmed for annual mindustry mugathon South by Southwest.
The first lot, details of which were released over the now distant festive period, include the likes of These New Puritans, the now Domino-signed White Williams and the Kills.
The second, announced today for the event running from the 12th ‘til the 16th of March in Austin, Texas, counts R.E.M., Jens Lekman, Robyn and Vampire Weekend among its ranks.

a lot of established bands, particularly if they have new material coming out. The big labels always like as much exposure as possible for their artists.

sxsuxoff has become soooo corporate over the last few years, now it's just another industry wank off attended by friends with AAA passes and coke snorting "execs" who pat themselves on the back for the alleged good work they've done while the up and coming bands struggle to find an audience or a a semi-comatose A&R person for their showcase slot at... on the pizza hut stage...
I think there are a great few fringe festivals that sprung up as a result of this that are worth looking at more like Fuck By Fuck You, that's where an appreciative audience are more likely.
