After the storming success of the two previous years and the amount of moaning at the restricted selections of the official DiS album of the year poll I've decided to do this yet again. Instructions:
List your top five albums of the year. Any albums as long as they were released in 2007. Put them in order if you're that way inclined and #1 will score 5 points, #2 will score 4 points etc. If you can't/won't put them in order they'll all score 3 points. I'll total up all the points to find the DiSers top 50 albums of the year. Feel free to list more than five albums but note only the first five you list will score points.
And yes, I know it's still only 2nd December so I'll leave this open until January if you feel you need to give albums that have just been released/will be released in December a fair go. It's all down to you people, so come January if there's any "Wut, no Pissed Jeans?" comments you'll only have yourselves to blame.
As usual, I'll go first:
1) Boxer - The National
2) 23 - Blonde Redhead
3) Armchair Apocrypha - Andrew Bird
4) The Stage Names - Okkervil River
5) Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? - Of Montreal

Is that in no particular order?
yeah
3 points each pls
re: Yndi - i know i bought it last year, but i think it was 'officially' released this year.
I'll ask Kev at BSM to get the official verdict...
ok and he says
"Technically it was released in November but it didn't hit shops until January, so it kinda fits into both I guess!"
what do the rules say about that John?
Official Ruling:
I'm allowing it. People voted for it last year that's why I thought it was 2006. Broken Social Scene made the Top 50 two years in a row so I don't see why i shouldn't allow this.

3. Blonde Redhead - 23
4. Napoleon IIIrd - In Debt To
5. Good Shoes - Think Before You Speak
good shoes?
really? i'm like, a massive massive fan but thought the album was very disappointing, especially considering the demos.
true
the demo versions were definitely stronger, but i grew to like the album ones, too. the record definitely petered out towards the end but i still think it was a stellar effort.
also, i think these five albums were the only ones that i've listened to more than once this year.
actually...
can i completely change my mind?
1. Windmill - Puddle City Racing Lights
2. The Maccabees - Colour It In
3. Plane - I See Love In The Future

At the start of the year I couldn't envisage a top 5 that didn't contain the new Wilco, Arcade Fire, Bjork, Low and Rufus but I don't think any of them would even make my top 10 (maybe Low). A real disappointing year for 'big' albums.
'23' and 'Citrus'

Last year!!!!!
I had an entry at number 31.... I aim to better it, so you folks better start voting my way.
1. John Maus - Love is Real
My fave artist around at the minute. 80s soundtrack music mixed with sad baritone lyrics of love.
2. Grampall Jookabox - Scientific Cricket
Ridiculously good album, full of catchy songs that stick in your head for days.
3. Library Tapes - Sketches
Absolutely gorgeous. I really liked Höstluft, but this blew it out of the water. His Xeltrei and Forestflies releases were both also great. He keeps churning out amazing albums.
4. Hauschka - Room to expand
This is probably one which will slip, but I have listened it to a lot through the year and so it should be up there. Distorted piano music.
5. The Balustrade Ensemble - Capsules
Just gorgeous bliss, that takes you to another time and another place.
I've probably forgotten my fave albums as I always do, but I'm pretty happy with that. Just missing out - Soccer Committee, Hannu, Radicalfashion, Xeltrei, Chainsaw Paws, Dirty Projectors, Magik Markers, Gowns.

3. The Besnard Lakes- Besnard Lakes are the dark horse
4. Telegenic- Meet me in California When we're dead
