Guys, hope ur all well.

I'm gonna Dublin Castle, Camden nxt weds to see a Sheffield band called CRAINE that blew my mind when I saw em in Liverpool earlier in the yr.

Know what ur thinking but dont put the Monkeys/Milburn tag on em yet they have a much bigger stadium sized sound n should blow the roof off the DC lol, think a mixture of Verve n Killers n ur not far off.

Hope some of u guys can make it, goin wi a few of my mates from work, lemme know

i dont want

to see a band called Craine, no matter how good they are

Without a Milburn tag

they're nothing. NOTHING.

We may scoff now,

But, when roof tiles from the Dublin Castle rain down upon the innocent, they may just get that tag...

Yeah

but only in a series of "Sheffield band sued after ruining venue for others" news articles.

Shortly followed by articles

about the band's rejected offers to play Wembley stadium for free, in order to pay for reparations.

don't worry, it gets better

(by better, I mean worse).

Alrite, yeh!

just text me wat time youll be there m8.

NO.

Ben

...

'dude'

:D

Never heard of em but just found em on myspace.com/craine1

does it matter if they arent like the monkeys or milburn, bet sheff bands around get well pissed off with that tag anyway.

Its a bit of a trek for me but having listened to 'End of The Line' and 'The One' on their space think am gonna go

Bill

If you're going to pretend to be two

different people, at least change your typing style.

Me too

You reckon he's related to any Nigerian royalty?

This is gold, I tell you.

COMEDY GOLD.

i'm still impressed at how anyone

could assume that level of naivety of anyone else.
good work!

Lotta attitude on here

EVERYDAY !
Kill yourself or get over it...

KOOPA LOL KOOPA LOL !!!111

"Music taste: Monkeys, Cooper Temple Clause, Young Knives, Milburn, Oasis, U2, Hendrix, Koopa, Klaxons, AW"

By 'AW' i hope he means Andrew W K.

I don't really know why.

"KOOPA".

??

koopa

one of the worst bands in the world.

ever. i've had the misfortune of seeing them TWICE. Good god, i wanted to die.

yeh

milburn monkeys fukin kick ass!!

ho ho ho

pm: "what is ur problem vikky is all u can do rip piss doesnt say much about u does it"

dillan84 / biffo1 - if you're gonna create fake / new profiles just to promote your band, you should try to do it less dishonestly (and hilariously - thanks for the lols)

also

this band is fucking wank, i just listened on the myspace.

I made that same mistake...

Ouch, my ears...

i didn't bother

bands that promote themselves on DiS in this way really piss me off. Just say "we're such and such. hello! please have a listen to us on our myspace. hope you enjoy" or something like that. Not bullshit threads about how you've discovered a new band and they are amazing and everyone should check them out. Post count: 1.

Oh my God...

Budget-sized Bon Jovi anyone?

Nice how they looked to check the sex on your profile

before that too.

And plus how they're familiar enough with the work of My Bloody Valentine to work out where your username comes from.

I thought it was nice of him to make the effort too.

The little star that he is.

Me neither. I assumed sueisfine was a girl

but then I often assume the girls on here are blokes so I think it evens out.

I didn't mind him not getting the reference

I don't really expect everyone too, it's hardly glaring [in fairness it was a hashed, rushed username a while ago].
I just would have prefered he maybe check my gender with a single click before making a TERRIBLE pass at me via PM.

For the record

This band is a laughing stock in Sheffield. Just thought I'd clear that up.

I wonder why...

Hah!

Remember the stabby3 post about the worst band ever? Craine got an honourable mention when it made the news section.

http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/2422661

:D

that was amazing.

what a frontman. wow. like the keyboard string parts.

i remember

I think Craine have overtaken whoever that band were.

Craine are great!

I have seen these guys at Clapham Grand and they are amazing live! Its definitely a gig not to be missed. I too have seen them with my mates and we all loved them and are going again next Weds to see them at Dublin Castle. I cannot wait! Its gonna be the best night out!
And these guys are gonna be huge one day.
Rachel

i cant tell if this is a DiSer taking the piss

or another superlame jag

Haha,

I was thinking the same - but I'm fairly certain it's a DiSer.

Nah, jag alert.

All three posters signed off with their name. That's a bit too coincidental...

Plus that was the first post on that account.

Hmm

Actually,

the fact it's now an articulate female is probably another lame ploy of his behalf to distance himself from the two previous numbskull males.

Must've taken them ages to write that post...

To apply syntax rules and be creative at the same time must've had them itching their heads for a good ol' time.

And for the sake of comedy here's that video that was posted in the worst band ever article: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssud4H7wNQU

Location and age of that new profile

are really reminiscent of one of their top friends...

oh dear........

hahaha......i had inadvertantly missed this earlier. now i really am bemused. What, are you like the DiS CID or something? Your own special codes and terminology? Wow. You clearly spend WAY too much time on here. This is a recreational site, for the purpose of promoting and discussing music.....am I missing something???

Clearly

i was......

being facetious.

in that case

can you please make sure the roof of the dublin castle is replaced in time for the following tuesday? and don't break anymore of the lights.

kthnx

they pretty much on have women in their top friends

"Jump on the CRAINE Train"! sigh

*only

it seems a bit pathetic

Can't make your gig I'm afraid.

But, if the Dublin Castle does suffer any structural damage as a result, I know a good Builder...Reliable, competitevly priced and polite. All work undertaken- Blown Roofs a specialality.
Let me know and I'll text you his number.

Lenny.

Does anyone know who i mean?

Has anyone here heard of The Special Relationship?
i heard thier demos on xfm and radio1 loads and listen to thier myspace....fucking fantastic.

Live they are kinda a cross between sebadoh and sonic youth!

bella

this thread has made my evening

as if Westlife on X Factor weren't special enough, this has exceeded my entertainment expectations.

jag?

is this the type of thing that a 'jag' would do? again, DIS virgin, me....noone has explained what a jag is. *big sigh....

Yes,

TSR can get away with it this time round, as the post is done ironically.

well,

shame on my naievity :p

...now then mardy bums....

....sorry, had to do it. I, for one, am an honest Craine fan. I think it is highly unfair of you to be attacking anyone in the manner you have. EVERYONE is on here for a reason, and in this case, that reason is to generate interest in Craine. This is, after all, A MUSIC FORUM. What better place to discuss a prospective up and coming band? Fact is, there's a certain criteria you have to meet in order to even GET a gig in DC. As fellow music lovers, do you HONESTLY think it's viable to make a judgement on a ANY band by listening to just 3/4 of their songs? Just seems to me that you are being slightly narrow minded! I have seen this band play live several times - including a very successful performance at Clapham Grand - and each performance offers something different. Their stage presence is second to none and at EVERY gig, they ARE a hit. And no, they're not a joke in Sheffield. You're talking out of your arse there.
I thought this forum was to DISCUSS music, not just DISS.
I am looking forward to seeing CRAINE play Dublin Castle - and not just PLAYING, but actually blowing the crowd away. Again.
So, thanks for reading. Nice to meet you all, by the way - I'm Emmi.
Oh, and I'm REALLY looking forward to reading your response's.

I think it's perfectly viable

to make a judgement based on three-quarters of their songs, and especially if the ones on their myspace page are supposed to be [logically] their best songs. Which were bad.

Hang on

'As fellow music lovers, do you HONESTLY think it's viable to make a judgement on a ANY band by listening to just 3/4 of their songs?'

NO! - 30 seconds usually does the trick.

Hello

You have to realize the problem wasn't that someone try to talk about them on this forum ( it is a music forum after all, and we like to discuss about music ) but the way it was done. Many steet-teamers or even band members have created profiles on DiS just for plugging their band once pretending to be "fellow music-lovers" having stumbled on this band by chance.

If only they had been honest by saying : "hello, I'm a big fan/a band member of *** what do you think of them/us", the reaction wouldn't have been the same !

And just listening to 3/4 of their songs is more than enough to know you really don't want more...

in all fairness

why are you jumping to the conclusion that this is one of those instances that a band member has created this profile?

"If only they had been honest by saying : "hello, I'm a big fan/a band member of *** what do you think of them/us", the reaction wouldn't have been the same ! " -
to that, I say - exactly that...what do you think of them? As I AM a big fan of CRAINE. And I happen to think they have huge potential. Now, will the reaction really be that different>?
My taste in music is hugely varied...and there's just something about their live performance. The tracks on their Myspace are some of their older works and I would say that their most recent tracks, performed live outshine these. I would agree that they need to have their best songs (logically) up there, and Im sure its just a matter of time.

I didn't say it was one of the band member

that's why I said "Many steet-teamers or even band members" have plugged bands in stupid ways in the past.

And dillan84 or biffo1 look very suspicious. You, on the other hand, have been very honest with your first post and if they'd done the same, the thread wouldn't have turned the way it has ( it would have gotten 0 to 3 replies I'm betting... )

"my taste is music is hugely varied"

"The Twang, Jamie T, Bring Me The Horizon, Pigeon Detectives, Kings of Leon."...I think not.

And Craine are AWFUL! The only success any of them is going to get is if Ian Brown needs a double, Chris Roberts on guitar might fit the bill...

did you

actually read JUST that section, or is it a case of read what you want to read?
Come on now, being petty again children :P
However, this is certainly brightening up an otherwise boring day at work. Every success has it's critcs.

"And no, they're not a joke in Sheffield. You're talking out of your arse there."

Your username and profile would seem to suggest you're not from these parts so, um, how would you know?

..ummm...

again, narrowmindedness. Just because my user name and profile suggest I dont live there/am not from there means nowt. I've lived all over and travel to visit friends frequently, be it yorkshire, scotland or WHEREVER. I have been to enough of their gigs in Sheffield and seen the response they get from the crowd every time, so um, thats how I know.

Presumably...

Those crowds don't consist almost entirely of friends and relatives?
Okay then, they're easily the biggest and most respected band in Sheffield. I should stop lying to myself.

...being a lilttle dramatic....

don't you think? At what point did i say they were the biggest and most respected band in Sheffield? And to answer your question, no. Quite simply, no.

LoLissimo!

.

Are they...

...As BIG as Heim!?

Not literally, no

But what they lack in girth they more than make up for by being monumentally shit...

The DC is actually quite easy to get gigs at,

It's a bugbear night I presume? similar situation with the Clapham Grand. The criteria at either isn't about the quality of the music alot of the time, they like any business have to make ends meet somehow...

Anyway more to the point. Craine aren't the type of band that are going to really get the juices flowing round here. For a start there's not alot of love for The Verve or Killers on these here boards and jagging isn't a good way to start either and will turn people off them.

: o

A Storm In Heaven???

But yes, otherwise.

...call me a DIS virgin.........

but what the hell is 'jagging'? someone PLEASE explain?!

'Jagging'

is a term used when a band comes on this site, pretending their a fan and tries to stir up interest in / promote their band. Anyway that point has been discussed / cleared up elsewhere.

on that note.

I AM a fan. I'm NOT pretending. And so what if I want other people to be interested in a band that I like...?
Clearly this is offensive to some, however nothing ventured...nothing gained. And I can certainly say that my first experience on DIS has been, lets say, less than dull?!
So thanks for your responses. its been emotional.
night.

nobody was

suggesting you were jagging from what i've read!
It's almost feels slightly disrespectful (no pun intended) to come on a site like this and use back-handed tactics to try and promote your band and I think that is the point trying to be made here.
If you want to promote your band to people on a music site then be open and honest about it.
Surely you should be proud about promoting yourselves and shouldn't want to hide away behind some made up moniker.
