Last night was really an education. I'm convinced nothing has moved on despite the last 20 years. The same stereotypes are there.

Or maybe I've still got a fucking chip on my shoulder.

Last night was a horrible horrible show. Was meant to be new band's first show.

The whole night was full of chin-stroking glitch and unfocused noise that was uncritically lapped up by the audience.

The promoters were taking the piss as we were pushed back to play by 5 hours.

Everyone before us took an average of 45 mins to setup and even longer to get the fuck of the stage.

One of the busy from my band was itching jsut to leave the place. I was busy just getting drunk.

Finalyl we commandeer the stage. After literally 3 mins people start moanign that we were taking too long and shouting out insults. Our vocalist and I responded in what can only be described as openly confrontational...and I've come to the realization it was disproportionate. But fcuki it, i was pissed off as well as pissed.

We went on without less than half of our equipment and the rest was incorrectly plugged in. We just went with what we had plugged in and played 25 mins of what can only be described as a god awful mess.

It was fuckign shit. it was horrible.

I've been told today that people loved it. Actually it was the hecklers that dug it the most.

I'm happy about that. but i know it wasn't the music. We only had pummeling noise and i didnt plug my keyboard into the synth so we only had drones.

It has dawned on me that the only impressive thing about us (from the audience's point of view) was the fact we were 2 angry asians and a chav playing to stereotpyes of angry ethnics.

Or a pleasant surprise that it wasn't some bhangra hip hop we were playing.

I don't know. But is this all it takes?

In order to be appreciated all you have to is confirm the audience prejudice?

I understand that this post is completely inarticulate. But I'm very disturbed by last night and I'm not sure how to describe it any other way
