Re: chillout album

Toxicity - System of a Down is a great album to kick back to!

Re: chillout album

Mercury Rev (I was recently converted) :)

Re: chillout album

Slowdive- Souvaki
The Wrens - Meadowlands
BSP - Open Season
EATB - Ocean Rain

This reminds me. Remember a long time ago I said BSP were the new Bunnymen? Now, I'm not the type to say I tol' ya so... OK, yeah I am. "I told you so!" I like that line in the Pitchfork review of Open Season where he says it's OK to be a "one-trick pony if the trick is really good."

Now if yer playing Marco Polo, or pool volleyball, or just plain had too much too drink:

Dresden Dolls - s/t
Bowie - Young Americans
Any pre-76 Stones
Any T-Rex
Lisa Stansfield - Perfect if ya kin the bikini clad gals dancing
Small Faces - Rod Stewart was actually pretty cool for a brief second in his career.
Blur - Just cos they're always great.
Dandy Warhols - Come Down/13 Tales. In case yer not just drinkin' but yer smokin' too.

Sigur ros: 'agaetis byrjun' and '()' are quite chilled in my opinion...they're a slightly orchastrial, experimental sounding band from iceland. The vocals are nice sounding but won't distract you (their all in either icelandic or a language that the band made up so won't cause you to think too deeply).

Nick drake: nice acousticy sound...might be a bit depressing if you focus on the lyrics too much though.

The delgados: 'Hate' is a nice album to chill to.

I'll second the wrens: 'medowland' as well.
