Re: Comedies
I hope so much that that isn't in any order...jam, day today, peep show, league of gentlemen had its moments, big train, garth marenghi's darkplace....none of them are necessarily in top 5 but probably the odd one or two...these are just things i prefer to the office
Re: Comedies
CRAP thats the one i forgot... peep show. i didnt like jam though. a little too strange for moi. League of Gents was superb.
Big Train, before the fucking cammed laughter. ooh god it ruined it. the prince chasing the jockeys made laugh awfully loud. as did the tin man.
Re: Comedies
o...and frasier :)
Re: Comedies
I hope you are joking. The only american comedy I find funny is the stuff produced by Trey Parker n Matt Stone.
Team America was absolutely hilarious.
Anyway, whats up with my top 5?
Re: Comedies
The office in number one. Thats whats up with it. Up to you but yeh. Does that mean you don't like the simpsons? Family Guy? two and a half men?
Re: Comedies
It's not cool right now, but i still like Friends a lot.
I like stand up too.
Bill Hicks rules, obviously - he turned stand-up into an art form.
Harry Hill is good too.
Re: Comedies
Yeh, they are good, the latter two that is. Bill Bailey is a bit shit though, only seen part troll but i dunno, was just a bit too stupid. Black bboks is ok, "i'm eating scrambled egg, from a shoe, with a comb" or whatever. Not that you mentioned him but yeh
Re: Comedies
Think Friends is awful. I thought Harry Hills TV Burp was hilarious, how he noticed things that were so funny.
Re: Comedies
frasier's well funny
south park was good
now it's just a bit lame
Re: Comedies
Harry Hill when he was on Channel 4, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy when it was a TV series, Not The Nine o' Clock News, Spike Milligan's Q series (Python before Python was Python) and The Young Ones.
perhaps.
Re: Comedies
these are in no order at all...
The Young Ones, Big Train, Bottom, The Office, Filthy Rich and Catflap, Bang Bang Its Reeves and Mortimer, Vic Reeves big night out, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Catterick...The Two Ronnies was awesome...
even the Fast Show had its moments...
Re: Comedies
ah, forgot Vic & Bob...that's a top five in itself...
Re: Comedies
nothing beats monty python though...
Re: Comedies
No one going to mention Father Ted? Fawlty Towers?
New(er) comedies - you have to love Spaced and The Mighty Boosh. Don't you? Sense of humour is a mighty subjective thing.
Re: Comedies
The Phil Silvers show (fuck off topcat!)
Seinfeld
Fawlty Towers
Father Ted
The Day Today
That's if you exclude cartoons of course....
The Simpsons
Ren and Stimpy
Family Guy
Beavis and Butthead
South Park
Re: Comedies
Simpsons, Friends, Harry Hill, Bottom, Fawlty Towers (Papers arrived yet Fawlty?!), Brass Eye, Peep Show, Young Ones, Filthy Rich and Catflap, Dads Army, Python are all brilliant.
Bits of Enfield, Fast Show, South Park etc are great too
Re: Comedies
pete and dud.
wow
Re: Comedies
yay!
Re: Comedies
Are we including radio?
Reggie Perrin
The Day Today
Yes Minister
I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue
The Mary Whitehouse Experience
(not really in any order)

The Office
Quite a few more that I cant be arsed typing.
Re: Comedies
Is anyone else really sick of Little Britain? When it first came on, I thought it was genius. Then when you hear chavs and others shouting quotes and people wearing t shirts saying: the only gay in the village.
If it didn't have the cammed laughter, most of the remedials wouldn't like it.
Re: Comedies
Agreed. Same with Peter Kay.
Re: Comedies
I'm sick of Little Britain, but then I hated it to start with. Bloody second-rate comedians getting their own shows just 'cos the big boys are taking a break.
Re: Comedies
Who are the big boys that are taking breaks from comedy? They need to return promptly and ideally before Nathan Barley does.
Re: Comedies
I doubt Barley will be back. Morris will have a new project by now I'm sure. And I can't see them getting much more mileage out of a fairly limited concept.
Re: Comedies
Uh, yeah, unfortunately Nathan Barley was what happened when one of the big boys came back from his break.
Anyone see Help with Chris Langham and Paul Whitehouse? Compared to what we've been seeing on TV for the last ten years or so, that was a whole new level of comedy.
Armando Iannucci's got a new show later in the year; political thing people are comparing to Yes Minister. That should be good.
Re: Comedies
fuck off ashley. Peter Kay has no cam laughter u nob!
Re: Comedies
Harry Hill - especially TV burp. I don't watch soaps at all but I still laughed at his mickey-taking.
Monty Python - some rubbish but many, many classic comedy moments.
Family Guy - so well-observed, zany and deliciously rude at times
Blackadder - so many laughs packed into each half hour episode
Beavis and Butthead - just very silly. I don't know why 2 cartoon teenagers laughing inanely is so funny to me, but it is. And the film is quality.
Honourable mentions to The Simpsons and Bill Bailey.
Re: Comedies
In no particular order:
RED DWARF
Oh and Black Books, Family Guy, etc...
Re: Comedies
Did anyone else see the TVBurp where he said "Does anyone else have that dream where Pat Butcher is attractive, and carries around some spring onions?" and then played a clip of Sex and The City, where Samantha's dressed spookily like Pat Butcher, and she's got a little plant poy of what looks like spring onions. I almost wet myself.
Fave comedies include Father Ted, Young Ones, Seinfeld, the first series of Bo Selecta (went downhill after that), and League Of Gentlemen. I'm currently enjoying Arrested Developement as well.
Re: Comedies
I'm Alan Partridge - just brilliant. I can watch any episode over and over..
Re: Comedies
TV Burp is fantastic! I didn't really find Harry Hill all that funny until I saw TV Burp.
Re: Comedies
as far as modern comedies go, garth marenghi's darkplace was pretty funny and the mighty boosh recently. Nathan Barley was alright...but after about 3 episodes all the jokes where the same
Re: Comedies
Scrubs is the funniest thing on TV at the moment, and its american.
The office, simpsons and family guy as well as Alan Partridge are all fantastic.
Re: Comedies
Forgot about Scrubs. That is second to AP.
Re: Comedies
you have to have the simpsons and little britain on it, so maybe a top ten, what do you think?
abc xx
Re: Comedies
I have to agree TV Burp did almost make me wet myself.
Did anyone else see the part where he showed a clip of Footballer's Wives, and there was a blonde looking at each of her husband's eyes back and forth, and Harry Hill said: 'Look at her! She's watching a game of elf tennis!'
Re: Comedies
I saw that bit, it was hilarious, i hope he does another series.
Re: Comedies
i've just ordered the 'blackadder' collection, so i don't think anyone will be seeing me out and about for the next couple of weeks.
