In a double bill of literate indie-pop worth getting excited about, Portland, Oregon’s The Decemberists will tour the UK in October, joined by Canadian trio Land Of Talk.
One might easily imagine the wintry five-piece will play some songs from their acclaimed The Crane Wife album, released earlier this year. Enough chatter, here are the dates:
October
2 London Royal Festival Hall
3 Cambridge Junction
5 Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
6 Bristol Anson Rooms
7 Academy Oxford
9 Dublin Vicar Street
10 Liverpool Academy
11 Newcastle Academy
12 Glasgow Academy
13 Leeds Metropolitan University
i once saw a poster
for a band called the septemberists. and someone told me of some marchist manifesto .
I bought tickets for Leeds...
About three months ago. Not the fastest breaking news story.
i do believe this tour is called "The Smiting of the Chavs"
outstanding.
I'm in Leeds when they play Glasgow
and Glasgow when they play Leeds :(
that's aweful!
I'll be at the Glasgow show. They were amazing at the ABC earlier this year so I'm sure they'll be just as good.
Ohh land of talk
thats sexy. I'm definitely there for the leeds date
i'm going to RFH
:D
the crane wife is my album of the year so far, just beating cassadaga. it took me 10 listens just to get me past the opening track, it's that good.
The opening track is fantastic
Dare I say though, I prefer Picaresque.
:O
castaways and cutouts for me
is it bad that I never really got into Picaresque?
ah well, still, cannot *wait* til october.
it's really really really bad!
I love that album. But hey, the fuck do I know? I'm ginger.
Gingers
are the awesomest people alive.
This is a fact.
I may just have to go and listen to Picaresque again now...
I'm listening to Jeremy Warmsley.
He's great.
Aargh!
No show in Southampton or Portsmouth!
so get off your arse
and travel, clearly.
i'm surprised tho after the reaction they got at the last southampton show.
wow
this is really old news, why's it taken you guys so long? i think RFH is nearly sold out. i am of course going.
Thanks for the reminder
*buys ticket*
Anyone know if any of these shows
are gonna be performed with an orchestra like they've been doing in the states? Surely Royal Festival Hall would be the perfect venue for it...
