Seriously love this album, it might even be my favourite white stripes album. It just sounds so complete, like a greatest hits but with all new material. Great.
What d'ya reckon?

What d'ya reckon?
no one like it, hate it
or indifferent to it?
i've only listened to it once
but it didn't grab me much..
fair enough,
whats your fav. white stripes album?
I like it a lot.
There is only 'Effect & Cause' that I'm not a fan of.
'Conquest' and 'A Martyr for my love...' are particular highlights for me.
They sounded ace at that O2 Wireless thing and the stage set up was very simple, but it worked so well with all the shadow projections etc.
i love de stijl and their debut best
and thought Satan and Elephant were ok at best, would i like the new one? I can't be arsed to listen/buy it at the moment
It does lean more towards
Elephant-esque White Stripes than GBMS. Although it's not so far removed from their even earlier work so I'd say it's well worth giving it a listen.
Yeah
Conquest is the obvious highlight, which made me realize something kind of striking - a cover version is my favourite track on 3 of their 6 albums: Death Letter on De Stijl and Stop Breaking Down on their first album.
If you chuck in their version of Jolene, it turns out most of my favourite songs of theirs aren't actually written by them. So for the first time ever, an inevitable contract-fulfilling album of covers might actually be something to look forward to rather than dread
only listened to it once properly
but there were some really good parts.
not sure it'll replace de stijl as my favourite, but we'll see
I've listened to it a couple of times and like it
need to give it a few more listens to see how it holds up against their other albums.
Conquest is immense.
It's another belter.
Possibly the most consistently good band around.
agree with that ^
It sounds like every other white stripes album I've heard
which is to say White Blood Cells and Elephant.
Decently done blues songs with some catchy riffs.
