Hotly-tipped Canadian troupe Arcade Fire have added another date to their upcoming UK tour.

The band, who will be over in October 'til November, have tacked on another show at London's Alexandra Palace. Three in a row in that cavern? They're gonna need a lot of tears.

Here are ver shows:

October
27 Glasgow SECC

29 Newcastle Metro Arena
30 Cardiff International Arena
31 Nottingham Arena

November
17 London Alexandra Palace
18 London Alexandra Palace
19 London Alexandra Palace *

New date = *

'Til the next addition, that's your lot.

CIA...

they are going to sound dreadful in the 'shoebox on its side' venue that is the CIA....

To be controversial

And to go against the common opinion, Arcade Fire live are shit.

It's a shame because they have the tunes and they have all the potential to be blinding live, but on the other hand they have no concept of a gig's momentum. There's breaks as long as 5 minutes while they faff about with instruments nicked from Worzel Gummidge's backyard, they're always late despite tuning instruments appearing to be optional, the singer tells rotten jokes, the jumping in the audience and throwing and destroying things seems too rehearsed, they're painfully arty-farty, and finally and most unfortunately they're an incredibly ugly band (very shallow comment indeed, but eye-candy is quite important when watching a band for 90 minutes. Who really enjoys watching The Young Knives for that long?)

And just to top it all off, they're playing at Alexandra Palace.

That's bollox though

Really - they are very good live. Maybe not quite as amazing as when they first came over to the UK but still a really good live band. Obviously you need to like the music but probably one of the best new bands I've seen in the last 5 years. I saw the White Stripes at Ally Pally and swore I'd not go again, but the AF *are* good enough to make me break that resolution.

I will grant one thing...

They genuinely appear to be enjoying themselves on stage, and that's very important.

It's probably because I like the music so much that I come away so disappointed every time. You're there losing yourself in Power Out, and then there's a five minute break whilst a tin can banjo gets tuned. It's rubbish.

awesome

now have tix for all 3 ally pally dates

agree about the tuning bit mentioned above, its the only thing that slightly annoys me when i see them. suppose thats what you get though when every band member changes instrument each song

hopefully..

they will announce continental europe dates in between...

errm

Did you go to any of those tiny gigs they did? If you thought they were shit and are a fan of their music, I am truly confused, baffled and.. speechless.

I did

Saw them at ULU - Amazing night. Saw them again at the Astoria and thought they were even better. But they've got too big too quick and I was dissapointed with the show at Brixton. Still brilliant in parts but overall something missing. I can't see them being a success at the Pally.

I walked out of the Glasgow show

because they went over the heads of the promoters to cancel my photopass about an hour before the doors

its not like

they werent already massive within indie circles before the neon bible advertising. though ive not seen them live to be able to judge any difference(thanks alot for being rubbish birmingham)

they're

immense live and I've seen them a few times so personally I feel that all the doubters should fuck off back to becoming hermits and leave the gigs for people who like to have a good time.

And Cadd - you sound like a cock so they probably done the right thing :)

yawn, really ?

how terribly outrageous of you, fuckwit

Just to be clear

I've never been to Alexandra Palace... is sound really that bad? How bad exactly? Is it better or worse than Royal Albert Hall? I'll be seeing Arcade Fire two more times this summer (mostly coincidence), I love them live but I'm not sure I'll be left hungry for more. If the acoustics suck, end of the story.
Please let me know, thanks...
