Montreal awaits DiS this weekend, here's a taster of what we'll be reporting on...

Well, hello there. Having just returned from the magical fairyworld of Iceland, this particular DiS scribe is heading back out of our illustrious British shores for three nights of merry-making in the Quebecian city of Montreal, Canada.

The reason? Why, great new music of course! The event goes by the name of M for Montreal and features the cream of Quebec's up-and-coming musical talent. DiS will be there to do a little DiScovery and report back on our findings, as well as bringing a few over for our events at The Great Escape, Hove Festival in Norway, London shows and a SECRET FESTIVAL OMG that we're booking and cooking.

The Monday line-up:
The Lovely Feathers
Taima
The Besnard Lakes
The Mission District
Galaxie 500
Patrick Watson
Champion & G-Strings

We're particularly excited by the sounds of The Lovely Feathers and having missed Patrick Watson at Iceland Airwaves and heard nothing but praise, we'll be catching up with his solo stylings.

On the Sunday night, we'll be treated to a late-night electronic extravaganza, featuring, amongst others, Ghislain Poirier and Plaster.

You can find out more, as well as enjoy links to music and reading my sexy name on the delegates section by visiting www.mformontreal.com and if anyone's about in Montreal, holler at me for good times!

I was thinking

the same thing.
Is that the original line-up of Damon, Dean and Naomi?

:(

thought this was about of Montreal.

I guess your not going to the Emmy thing despite the secret guests being the best thing youve booked/better than animal collective/possibly your favourite gig ever. can you tell us who it is before you go?

also: GALAXIE 500!?!?!?!?!?

sorry dude

i really didn't want to turn down a free trip to Montreal.

fair enough

I want to go to canada so much www.flyzoom.com £80 awesome

I meant to make a note on Galaxie 500

I don't think it's the actual Boston-based AMAZING 'gaze band, as this is supposed to be Canadian artists only.

However, I will be watching and if they start playing 'Spook', I'll probably just die there and then.

who else could it be though?

why would you name your band Galaxie 500 when you weren't them?

WHAT'S GOING ON?

"Spook" < "Oblivious"

i think the band playin

will be 'Galaxy' 500, not 'Galaxie'.

the first are a montreal based band, and are alright

incorrect

i have double and triple-checked it.

from the wiki

"Galaxie 500 is also the name of an alternative hard rock group from Quebec."

thought i posted this already... obviously not though

does this really classify as 'news'?

i mean - great, you're going to canada, good for you and all, but surely this isn't news until you have something to report back on afterwards?

it's for people to check out

the bands themselves, make a few discoveries themselves and be aware of the event.

I really do love

Patrick Watson

Damn it

Spent the whole summer in Montreal waiting for DiS - and then as soon as I go home for uni, guess what happens?!

Actually I went home for a festival, but anyway...
