surely 'these words' by natasha bedingfield should have won best song musically and lyrically !!!**??!!-
Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
i completely agree. i mean you can't get much better than this:
"Read some Byron, Shelly and Keats
recited it over a hiphop beat
I’m having trouble saying what I mean
With dead poets and drum machines
You know I had some studio time booked
But I couldn’t find the killa hook
Now you've gone and raised the bar right up
Nothin' I write is ever good enough "

Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
oh and does this mean that Crazy Frog thing will be an applicable candidate for the Most Performed Work award next year. I hope so!-
Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
I'm sure this has been said before, but some of the different catagories make no sense. If The Street wrote the best song of the year musically and lyrically, how do Franz have the best contemporary song of the year? Is Mike Skinner considered to write classical music?-
Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
it's coz the Streets were so 2003

Why are music awards so shitty and wrong?
The streets? That song is turd.
Two words.
One of them is "off". -

im more worried about the fact that snow patrol got an 'album award.' Jesus.-
Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
'Album Award' though. Not 'Best Album'. Just 'Album'. So, fair enough really! It is one...

Does anyone else read that title as frank skinner... or is it just me? -
Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
Nope, I read it as Frank Skinner too. I just hope you're as old as me.-

The only thing I think that really sucks is having categories like 'PRS Most Performed Work', 'International Hit Of The Year', 'Best Selling UK Single', since none of them really relate to songwriting merit, just commercial success, and as such they should be confined to the annual industry backslapping Brit Awards. As for the awards, I think that, while 'Take Me Out' is a great pop song, 'Dry Your Eyes' is an epoch-making record, and deserved to be the only award winner. ...Snow Patrol and Keane... be grateful Coldplay left it til this year to release their album, wannabe m**herf**kers!!!! -

Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
i've said it before and i'll keep repeating it, goddamit: vertigo by u2 is a complete and utter fucking ripoff of dirty boots by sonic youth. but shit. the cunts.-
Re: Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivors
Ahh! You're right! Just listened to goo and was wondering what it reminded me of, the unoriginal bastards.

Final Straw won despite being released about 21 months ago? Hmm. -
Franz, Skinner and Robert Smith triumph at the Ivo
Yeah, but it got re-released and I'd imagine that was enough for them to bend the rules so Snow Patrol got it.
They all make this shite up as they go along anyway. -

Crazy Toad is gonna win an award.
Damn.
Like the Streets though, although Eyes was a sh!t song. I don't see the fascination, but anyway, Coldplay will make sure none of those softie bands ever get an award ever again. Coldplay ARE the best in making songs that make your dick soft, admittedly.
