Download 2005: SoaD, Feeder, Weezer and Sabbath

Download was officially launched last night, with a raft of names revealed as
playing the festival.
The biggest news is that the festival is to be expanded to three days; starting on Friday 10th June and finishing on Sunday 12th. Previously the festival has been a two-day weekend affair.
The Friday will be some sort of 'indie' day with Feeder headlining and support from Garbage, The Prodigy, Billy Idol and Weezer.
Saturday is set to be a mini-Ozzfest day, with Sabbath, Velvet Revolver and HIM confirmed, whilst Sunday will be all about the metal, with System Of A Down, Slipknot and Slayer plying their bloody wares.
Tickets are on sale now from the usual sources, expect to shell out £112 or so for the privilege. Additionally, the Download official site, www.downloadfestival.co.uk has a myriad of other ticketing options that include hotels and all in one tent-included camping packages.

Mmm I 'spose...but AC/DC never split up and have loads of non-original members, Sabbath is fat old men reforming to make money, which is usually crap, but in their case rocks like the big swinging dick of Satan.

They don't have any dudes who didn't play on Back in Black though. And the singer died! And the bassist was just a bassist and he was booted out after the second record I think. So a fairly long time ago.

Feeder haven't sold more records than any of those bands - Prodigy, Garbage or Weezer.

The most recent Prodigy album bombed. Feeder have almost certaintly sold more records *here* that Garbage or Weezer, at least, again, in recent years.

i think they shouldve kept download as a 2day "heavy" festival and let reading/leeds/v etc cater for the more "indie" inclined

Ozzy is a uh-wuuh-wuuh-wuh-SHAROOOON!-uh-wu-wuh-wanker, and should stay in the U.S. with all that Ozzfest bollocks. Having Sabbath play this year gives MegaGloboOsbourne Corp. the licence to ruin this festival for many years to come.

oh dear god tommymack. please. never compare weezer and feeder. feeder are utterly without merit. i've been waiting for 4 years to see weezer aswell, really hoping they're gonna play T in the Park

Feeder are worse, fair enough. But Weezer aren't much cop either ('cept for Buddy Holly and Hashpipe, oh and Surf Wax America, that was alright...Ok, they've got a few good songs, but a lot of their stuff's dross...matter of opinion...matter of opinion, I know, but I'm right and you're all wrong.

yeah, i'll continue the mike-bashing. Pinkerton is genius. the sound is so much darker to the first album, so fucking random. Weezer are one of my favourite bands. ever. and at last i will see them.
