Foo Fighters to headline Reading & Leeds Festivals

The word is out that The Foo Fighters are one of the three bands set to headline this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals. Joining the rock quartet will be The Pixies and Iron Maiden, who have both reportedly agreed to headline the weekend.Of course, this info comes from a festival source who told NME.com: "They've bagged Pixies' only UK shows next year, and there's a chance they could be their last ever in Britain. It's an open secret that Foo Fighters are playing as well."
The announcement looks to be made official come March since that's when tickets for the festival are likely to go on sale. If you so desire to know the absolute latest news about the event, please feel free to visit here.

Seems a bit weird getting Iron Maiden to play the Carling Weekend. At Download 2003 we had numerous amusing chats with gumbies there for Maiden so we can but hope the atmosphere will be similar at Leeds this year :) -

maiden would make excellent festival closers ... if its one thing they can do really well its put on a big live show
remember when tallica did leeds - everyone was wearing tallica shirts apart from a few left out fashionistas who hung out at the back wishing they were cool.

I'll wait to see the whole line-up before deciding. But I'm probably gonna go anyway. Pixies - wooh. At least I'll have two nights where I can see a headlining band on a smaller stage somewhere (ie the Carling stage).
The shit thing about Reading though, is that the headliners on the other stages only get 1hrs sets, whereas the main stage band gets 1.30hrs+
Hopefully Qotsa will play. I bet they'll be "supporting" the Foos. *shudders* -

Fuck that...is there a more boring choice of headliner than the Foos? I mean, even headlining bands that I really despise would be more fun than the Foos; they just stir a vast well of apathy inside me. -

This year's line-up isn't too bad. Maiden should be a fun Friday night headliner at Leeds. Hopefully they won't fill the Sunday with the same type of shite they did last year. -

It's the ten year anniversary for the Foos first Reading set.
They were incredible then. I hate to say it, but they've got less interesting each subsequent time I've seen them.
Pixies and The Maiden though. Oooh. Lovely. -

Metallica were hi-larious. I was quite neart the front in the middle of a group of people chanting "I WANT! MY ANGER TO BE HEALTHY!" and "TICKTICKTICKTICK TOCK!" all the way through every song. It was brilliant.

witness, or oxegen as its know called, has The Foo's and Prodigy headlining
not that exciting really The Foo's turned from kinda alrite to complete shite and the Prodigy aren't too bad but its hardly a fantastic lineup so far, Ian Brown as well
Why cant Ireland have something like Reading/Leeds or Glasto
Oxegens a bit pants really for lineups, although festivals usually end up amazing whoevers playing anyways, even if you dont wtahc anyone its still always a brilliant3-4days -

Foo Fighters? They have done nothing good for years. They have no sharp edges at all, they are just a big dumb cash cow. How disappointing. Pixies? cool. Iron Maiden? The heavy metal revival has gone waaay too far.-

as much as i agree about the foo's comment, don't speak too soon, they have a double album coming out this year thus could prove an interesting set at reading/leeds. maiden pfft time to go to the carling stage i think. no quarrels about pixies. fucking brill

Finally after 10 years in a row of going to Reading they have a proper headlining band in Iron Maiden.
This will hopefully piss off all the Indie fans who like lightweight Razorlight stuff and Coldplay... and fuck it, even the Foo fighters can be tarred with the same brush as far as i'm concerned.
You get all these people trying to be "really Cool" hanging around Reading and it just makes me laugh. Sorry to dissapoint you but i've seen Maiden countless times and yep, the whole place will be full to the brim with Maiden fans the day they play. If you ever want to see a Good live show (I.e. a show ehere the musicians don't stand in one place for the whole of there set) then i suggest you go and see Iron Maiden...............or piss off and go and see some of your "Estate Agent" lightweight indie on one of the smaller stages. I can't fucking wait.
