And that is where Goldie Lookin Chain have succeeded. Already the most controversial debate since, oooh, the one about the Libertines last week, the apparent genius isn’t in the infectious, old-skool beat complete with KRS-1 sample or the cheeky lyrics (“Michael Jackson telling little Timmy to be silent”), but actually in the fact that YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IT. And that is why, despite all the post-modern deconstructions and ironic-or-not deliberations, they’re a damn site cleverer than you think they are.
And that really eats you up, doesn’t it?

Me and my mates from Wales (I'm from Barry, nr Cardiff originally) often drop into exaggerated Cardiff Chav accents when we're taking the piss, and the way we sound is a little different from the real thing, but a lot like GLC. From the way they over-pepper their interviews with particular in-joke mannerisms, it is my impression that GLC are putting it all on, and though it's still a bit of a laugh when they hit the mark (calling the website 'youknowsit' is genius from a local in-joke point of view), it's like the Lo-Fi All Stars crap panto when they don't. -

Gun's Don't Kill People (Rapper's Do) is fantastic. However, the new single (your mother's got a penis) is going to be like Ali G- all the people it's taking the mick out of are gonna not get it and go round shouting "your mother's got a penis" at top voice.
I don't think they're taking the piss. Reasonable comparison would be The Darkness- not taking the piss outright, but definitely posses a sense of fun. -

they are takin the piss but their target if anyone is themselves. People should stop over analysing them and just enjoy the joke whilst its still funny -

I can tell you that some are nice and some are twatty. I interviewed them for radio and couldn't tell the difference from the actual group or their welsh mates. They aren't too diss-similar to on stage. They blew dope smoke in my face and made jokes not too far off from "his mates called Dai Spunk, you scruffy bastad". Apart from that, the majority of them (for instance -Adam and Misty) are quite nice guys actually.

surely what sort of characteristics they have, or how 'intelligent' their music is....is whats NOT important.
If they entertain, (and that doesn't nesecarily mean to entertain, u have to like them), but they get your attention, and make you talk about them, then their goal is achieved!! thus, they cant be that bad....look how many repies are on this board alone!
