Debuting in the summer of 2000 stellastarr* quickly built a following with their catchy changes, quirky vocal style and melodic licks. With an updated take on the post modern sound of the eighties (such as the Cure and the Pixies) stellastarr* breath fresh life into an often overlooked and underrated era while creating their own distinctive sound that has seen them develop a large New York City based following, selling out venues such as Brownies, Don Hill's, the Village Underground, the Continental, the Mercury Lounge, Luna Lounge and CBGB Gallery. Cementing their following with a series of color themed shows throughout the East Village, stellastarr* also managed some out of town mini tours throughout the Tri-State area as well as Philadelphia, Virginia, the Carolinas and even down to Athens, GA. In April 2002 the band opened up for punk legend Joe Strummer (formerly of The Clash) where they were very warmly received.

With a series of EPs being self released throughout 2001 on their own 'Bloated Wife Records' micro-label, stellastarr* joined the ranks of Tiswas Records early in 2002 and headed into the studio with highly acclaimed producer Tim O'Heir (Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack, etc.) to begin work on their debut album. With a sound ranging from quirky angular pop to epic sound scapes stellastarr* are looking forward to touring the States and beyond in support of the record due out late September 2002 and adding to their rapidly building following......
