Southern Souls have performed in many smaller venues such as the Amersham Arms, Jazzmins Club and several Student Unions, but now have their sights set on larger London venues such as Kentish Town’s Bull & Gate.
What is the most unique thing about your band?
Thrusting comedy into each show, keeping people of all ages entertained throughout!
What has been your biggest inspiration (musical or otherwise)?
Our main inspiration comes from other bands such as Oasis, Stereophonics and Blink 182.
What has been the greatest moment in your musical career so far?
Our greatest moments have to be recording our first album and also being featured on compilation CDs such as this and the BURBs compilation, ‘Roadkill Interrupted’.
What other bands do you sound like?
We’d like to think we have an original sound, but have been influenced by bands such as Blink 182, Stereophonics, System of a Down and Oasis.
What’s your attitude towards mainstream music at the moment?
Mainstream music consists of too many manufactured GROUPS, not bands. There is also a lack of true musical talent, but saying that there are a few diamonds amongst the rough.
How does the band go about writing its songs?
We tend to write individually and then go over them as a group to make improvements.
How would you describe your band’s sound?
Original hard-hitting rock, with just a dash of humour.
